It would be helpful to have an additional field available for event tags. Is it possible to set up an event fact with a value field?
Any advice will be appreciated.

Robert,
The current GEDCOM standard, 5.5.1, does not support events having a value field so FH does not allow them either.
You can use an attribute instead, which does allow a value field.

Thanks, Bill. I thought/feared that might be the case.

Re: Value field in an event tag?
However, it is unwise to substitute custom Attributes for standard Events, especially Birth, Marriage, Death, Census and similar key events because they have special significance.
For example, the Age of an Individual is determined from their Birth event Date.
The way to add values to standard Events is to use labelled Note text as explained in Establish fact with 'to' field (19278).

Re: Value field in an event tag?
Thanks, Mike. I'm already using GetLabelledText() in a few places. That's what I did with the Deportation (fam) tag you advised me on earlier. The events for which I need an additional field are not standard events.
I have a custom Immigration (fam) attribute tag which I hope to use extensively. I don't recollect whether I set it up myself or if FH7 made it when I converted from RootsMagic. There are quite a few of them. I know how to convert them to event tags — not a daunting prospect, but not especially welcome either.
Thanks again for your help.

Re: Value field in an event tag?
Why would you want to convert them to custom Event tags?
I thought you wanted the extra Value that a custom Attribute provides?
The custom Events for which you need a Value can be converted to custom Attributes with a similar name by using the Change Any Fact Tag plugin. I can explain how if you are interested.
