Copy & paste as (unwanted) table...
When I used to copy some text or a GRO reference such as:
DAVIS, FREDERICK WILLIAM ROWLEY GRO Reference: 1893 J Quarter in STOKE DAMEREL Volume 05B Page 342
in v6 it would be just be plain text as it is here. However, now it pastes as if it's a table (see image).
Is there any way of getting back the 'plain vanilla' copy & paste?

I think it depends whether the text you are copying is already formatted, and how you paste it, i.e. whether you paste as formatted or unformatted text.

I haven't tried it in FH but the standard shortcut for pasting unformatted text is Ctrl+Shift+V

Lorna: thanks for the reply. It's unformatted text. The example for William Davis above is copied (Ctrl+C) straight from the GRO online index and pasted using Ctrl+V into FHUG, then into FHv7, and that's how they come out.
Brian: thanks, but didn't work in v7...

@russellf97. If you are doing a copy and paste from the Search on the GRO website, that result reference you get back is actually formatted text in a table, not unformatted text. On the GRO, the GRO Reference is shown in italics, which is formatted.

If you've copied from a formatted website and want to past into a note, right click within the note and look at the options, which include Paste Unformatted Text.

You don't even need to open the rich text window to right-click and paste unformatted.

Re: Copy & paste as (unwanted) table...
paultt: when I copied and pasted from wherever, it would paste into v6 as plain text. From the GRO, CWGC website, whatever. Although in the GRO index a couple of words are in italics, they still paste as plain text as in this random example I've just copied:
DAVIS, JOHN 1935 GRO Reference: DOR Q1/1994 in Wirral (0371B) Reg B19B Entry Number 132.
That is exactly how it would paste into v6. Trying to paste into v7 it turns into a table as in my op, and being perverse, I don't want it as a table, I prefer it plain text.

Re: Copy & paste as (unwanted) table...
FH v6.2 did not support formatting, so EVERYTHING became plain text unconditionally.
For years, the top Wish List item was word-processing style formatting for Note and similar long text boxes.
That is now an option in FH v7.0.
If you want to paste plain text, then right-click the text box in FH and choose Paste Unformatted Text.

Victor, this thread is not talking about copying screenshots but copying text.

One trick I use to get rid of unwanted formatting when copying and pasting is to paste into a plain text file in notepad and copy on from there.

David, that is not necessary if the FH Paste Unformatted Text option is used, unless you need to remove newlines from multiline text to enter into one line boxes such as Where Within Source.

I would imagine David means, generally and not just when using Family Historian. I do the same thing in applications that don't have paste as plain text options.

Re: Copy & paste as (unwanted) table...
But most products like Word and Excel have an unformatted paste option just like FH.
