Depending on how many pages of information there are it may be appropriate to change the document to images and add them as media to a source record. Then use that as the source for the various facts.

If there are too many pages then maybe convert to a pdf to make it not too easily editable document and add that again as media to a source but as it is a pdf then it cannot be viewed within Family Historian.

I am sure there will be other suggestions.

The key point is to add that document as a Source record exactly as you would any other Source document.

Then that Source record will be cited by every Fact derived from it, just as normal.
If you use the Citation Assessment to qualify the reliability of the Source details, then you will need to make a value judgement of whether it is Primary evidence (first hand contemporary detail), Secondary evidence (second hand or non-contemporary), or Questionable.
You can also use the Citation Where within Source field to identify the page/paragraph in the Word document.

The details of how you incorporate the Word document into the Source record is more of a personal choice. e.g.
  • Link the Word document to the Media tab of the Source record.
  • Convert it into a PDF file (use the Word File > Export option) and link that to the Media tab.
  • Create JPEG image screenshot of each Word document page and link them all to the Media tab.
In this case they can be included in Reports.
  • Optionally, copy the text of the Word document into the Text From Source transcript field so it is searchable.
