Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Per my recent posts, I moved to a new Windows 10 computer a few weeks ago. I successfully installed FH on the new machine, along with my custom settings.
Everything has been working fine until this morning. I opened FH and selected the "All Relatives" diagram icon to produce a family diagram for an individual. The resulting diagram was in a format that was not remotely close as to how I had previously customized these diagrams to appear.
What could cause the diagram to not follow my customized settings that had been working fine until this morning?

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Does the change affect all diagram types? Had you recently experimented with different settings and forgotten to untick 'Save as Default'? That could do it.
If you have any saved Charts which use your preferred settings you could reset things by opening one of them, and in Diagram Options check Save as Default. Otherwise you will need to restore again using the Backp and Restore plugin.

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Yes, every diagram type I have tried has been changed from what I was seeing a day ago.
I have not experimented with any new custom settings since moving FH to the new computer.
No saved charts. Looks like I will just have to re-do all my diagram settings.

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Bob, have you perhaps used a different Windows 10 User Account from the one you used up to a few days ago?
Most things would look the same, including all your Projects, but some settings in the Windows Registry are keyed to the User Account and includes the core standard Diagram settings.
By Diagram Type do you mean just the four on the toolbar, or also those opened via View > Custom Diagram Types?
See how_to:understanding_scope_of_features|> Understanding the Scope of Features for full details.

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
I am not aware of having multiple Win10 User Accounts. So, no, I wasn’t knowingly using another Win10 account.
I was only using the diagram icons on the Tool bar, which is what I was using prior to the loss of my custom diagram settings.
It is odd that all my custom settings for my ISR reports remained intact. Seems that just the diagram settings got lost.
At any rate, I have all the settings re-configured now.

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Bob, it is worth bearing in mind that the core standard Diagrams accessed from the toolbar unusually hold their settings in the Windows Registry. Most other custom settings (as opposed to Tools > Preferences) are held in the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\ folder (which can be backed-up). So if the Windows Registry gets 'reset' then the core standard Diagrams settings get reset to default.
BTW: It only needs one of the core standard Diagrams to have its settings returned to defaults for them all to be reset.
Those include Ancestors, Descendants, Ancestors & Descendants, All Relatives, Everyone & Blank Diagram.
What I do is save each standard Diagram as a custom Diagram Type and that allows those settings to be quickly restored.
Something similar is suggested in how_to:move_settings#core_diagram_settings|> Core Diagram Settings.
Since it sounds like the Windows Registry has been 'reset' then I advise checking your Tools > Preferences settings.

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Thanks for the detailed information Mike. However, I am not sure what you are saying that I should be seeing in the Tools>Preferences>Diagram box.
Here is a snip of my Diagram Preferences. Is there something amiss here?

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Sorry Bob, you misunderstand. There is nothing special about Tools > Preferences > Diagrams.
The point is the core standard Diagram settings and most Tools > Preferences are held in the Windows Registry.
So if all the former have been 'reset', then all the latter may have ben 'reset' too, so worth reviewing them all.
A second point is the way to protect against Windows Registry upsets from losing all core standard Diagram settings is to use Diagram > Save Diagram As > Custom Diagram Type so the settings are saved in the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Diagrams\Custom\ folder, and that used to restore core standard Diagram settings at a stroke if needed.
