HELP.
I have just installed Bitdefender Antivirus Plus and am now unable to open FH. The programme is still there in Explorer under Calco Pie but there are no further files apart from Tutorial Files when I click the Short cut, nothing happens. There does not appear to be an FH Application. Should there be?
I have disabled everything from the Bitdefender 'Protected Folders" but still no luck.
This is the only programme that appears to be affected.
I cannot open it from a GedCom.
I can open AS and select any Project and it shows the correct data for the relevant Project. Presumably from the GedCom?
I can also open FTM which I sometimes use for their different Charts. Again, presumably from a GedCom

I have FH6 upgrade, plus 5 and 4 upgrades, and 3 on CDs and can reinstall if necessary, but thought that I would check with the wise brains of the Forum before doing so.

Any assistance would be gratefully received, particularly if it necessary to re-install, as to the process.

BitDefender is a real pain. I don't know why any one would want to use it.

Did you read all the information here Bit Defender (15705) and the associated thread mentioned?

Make sure you have excluded the program from scanning and added it to the internet white list.

I just loaded FH today, and have the same problem. The links were helpful, but the menu options were not the same. (I have 2018 version) I found most of the items, but still FH will not open. Have been on the phone with Bitdefender for awhile now, but still no resolution. Everything they have offered also will not work. Any other suggestions? Thank you!

Okay, after quite some time on the phone with Bitdefender, they had me turn off all the modules, and the program opened. In turning on the modules one by one, it seems the "advanced threat defense" is the culprit. They have not figured out how to get the program open with that module open yet, but at least I can open the program as long as the module is turned off!!

Am looking forward to learning this program as it has some great reviews!
