Re: Saving marker sets

I don't use the Map Window much, and Markers even less.
Their only purpose appears to be to design a Map that can be saved as a JPEG file via Map > Save Map As or printed out via the File > Print options.
I agree that it would be useful to be able to save them.
Why not make that suggestion to Calico Pie via the how_to:about#problem_reporting|> Problem Reporting mechanism.

That is their standard automated system acknowledgement response.
What will be more interesting is their human response.

Paula,
Since your first post on this subject, I have been playing with Map window and discovered a useful feature I wasn't aware of, that you may like. (Sometimes it pays to buy the Official user guide :D )

If you Map places for an Individual, you can enable the Time Slider (button to right of magnifier icon in toolbar). Once enabled, a slider appears below the map window, which allows you to see the movement of the individual over time. If you do this for two individuals (husband and wife for example), you can see both their movements, and see how they met.

Mike, all you had to do was open the Map Window, hit F1 key to open Help page, and learn all about it for FREE!
The Time Slider is explained near the bottom of the page.
( BTW: The F1 key works in most FH windows, as it does in most Windows apps. )

Miketate,
F1 key is fine if you want to see how to do something you know it can do, but if you didn’t know it could do it in the first place, who would think of using F1?
One doesn’t actually read the help pages to learn a product, that’s what a manual is for, and who reads them? :D :D

I do! I read Help pages & manuals avidly. But I've always been odd that way :D Maybe it is part of my professional training.
My reasoning is that you won't know what the product can do unless you read what the designers want you to know.
By not reading about it, I would feel cheated if I missed out on some useful features.
I also experiment with all the buttons and commands to see what they can do.
That is another way to discover the Time Slider.via its button and Map command.
I just like solving mysteries, whether family history brick walls or software button features.

Just as well you don’t use Apple products then :D They seem to think they’re above manuals, because their products are so brilliant - Not

I do confess however, than in the ‘80’s, I could be found avidly reading DOS, Dbase, Supercalc and Wordstar manuals! :D happy memories
