Custom Query Download Problem

Started to dabble with downloading a few custom queries.
Two in particular I have a problem with.
Census Missing Years and
Kinsfolk Census To Do List.
Both downloaded OK and appeared in the query list,
but up popped when selected,
' File is not a valid Family Historian query file '
Am I doing something wrong or is there something missing?
Help much appreciated.
Regards .............Howard

I have updated those two Queries recently but using FH V6.2, so it is possible they use some feature of V6 that is not supported in V5 that your Profile says you are using.
Can you identify any downloaded Queries that do work OK?
It might then be possible to rectify the issue, but since I currently have no access to FH V5 it may be difficult.

These two queries do work -
Family Census Facts and
Census By Year Ancesters2
I also downloaded
Census By Year - CS2
(See forum post / Genera l/ FT Analyser information / valkriders post.
This gave the same result as the above which didn't work.

I'm sorry but I cannot trace either
Family Census Facts or
Census By Year Ancesters2 anywhere on the
FHUG website.
Where did you obtain them?
I suspect you may have written them yourself?
Please try fhugdownloads:contents:age_at_birth_of_first_child|> Query:Individual ~ Age at Birth of First Child. Does that one work? It is encoded in
ANSI.
It is starting to look as if any
Query produced by
FH V6 is incompatible with
FH V5, probably because they are encoded in
Unicode UTF-16 instead of
ANSI.
So please try the following to prove my theory.
- Use Windows File Explorer to open C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Queries\Custom\
- Use Windows Notepad to open Kinsfolk Census To Do Table.fhq
- Use File > Save As
- In Save as type: use drop list to select All Files (*.*) instead of Text Documents (.txt)
- In Encoding: use drop list to select ANSI instead of Unicode
- Finally click Save
Now try the
Query in
FH.
Repeat that process for any others that do not work.
Ley me know what happens.
Some
Queries may still not run satisfactorily if they use
FH V6 new features.

Hi Mike
Family Census Facts or Census By Year Ancesters2
I'm not sure where they came from being truthful.
As you suggested I may have created the first (I've had it quite a while)
but the second was only downloaded on 31/01/19.
As far as I remember I got it from FHUG website.
It's a mystery but I will carry on looking!
I did download - Age at Birth of First Child and it did work.
I did try as you suggested to prove your theory by doing points 1 to 6,
and Kinsfolk Census To Do Table is now working.
I haven't tried the others yet, but I will let you know.
Appreciate your help.

All the evidence suggests that any Queries produced with FH V6 must be converted from Unicode to ANSI encoding prior to uploading to FHUG so they are FH V5 compatible, OR they must be tagged as being FHVersion6 specific.

Hi Mike
I think this is the missing download
https://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?i ... us_entries
There appears to be title differences and I assume that is why you couldn't find it.
On the download list................................Query: Individual - Ancestor missing census entries
On the individual download page........Census entries by year and ancestors
After hitting the download button ......Census by year ancestors2

Excellent, I can confirm that is an old ANSI encoded Query and further supports my theory.
I try to adjust such inconsistently named downloads when I find them, so as to avoid the difficulty we had in locating that one.

Hi Mike
Just to finish off, the other query downloads are all now working,
after I followed the points 1 to 6 as previously suggested by yourself.
A very happy bunny and I appreciate your help.

Thanks for the feedback Howard.
If I can find time, I will go through the downloads and try to convert all to ANSI.

I've gone through the Query downloads and hopefully converted all the Unicode ones to ANSI.
