"Whole record" source citations missing

Post by redvanman »

Have just rebuilt an Individual Summary Report for a named list of over 100 individuals before committing it to paper, and found that the source citations that refer to the whole record are missing. Citations that refer to specific facts are there. The citations come up just fine in a narrative report for the same individuals.

Any ideas, anyone? I'm aware of the report option List "Whole Record" Source Citations against Name. I hadn't touched that (famous last words, I know) but I tried switching it off then on when I found the problem, but to no avail.

Many thanks.

Alyn, I cannot repeat that problem.
Please confirm you are running the latest FH V6.2.7.
Can you attach two screenshots both for the same person illustrating the problem (both similar to mine below):
  1. Where the Name Source Superscript is missing for ISR
  2. Where the Name Source Superscript is correct for Narrative

Thanks for quick response, Mike. Yes, I confirm I'm on FH 6.2.7. Here are the screenshots:
First, the one with the missing citations:

Secondly, the narrative report where the citations appear:

The first two citations (1 and 2) are missing in the first case.
I see that the "whole record" citations for the spouse are also missing in the summary report but not the narrative report.
I know I've modified the default style considerably for the summary report; however, this was done a couple of years ago, and it's all worked fine AFAIK until today.

It looks like you have customised the Format tab Record Heading so the name & dates are in red without lines above & below.
The whole record source superscripts are never added to such record headings.

On the Contents tab, under Main Section Items, you've hidden the Name item, but that is where the whole record source superscripts are added, as shown in my screenshot.
So if you want whole record source citations, you will have to reinstate the Name even though it duplicates the record heading.

Thanks Mike,
It's so obvious now you've pointed it out. The galling thing is, I was a software engineer before I retired, and whenever anyone told me "I haven't changed anything" I was always suspicious. There's a lesson for me there, I think ...

I was also a software engineer before retiring and have experienced the same phenomena. SNAP!
I still am...
