The Property Box, Media Tab and Sources

In order to keep my research in a format that I can understand I have created a source record for all the sources of information I have obtained, be it birth, death, marriage certificates etc. In addition where I have located a photograph I have also created a source record, not sure if that's standard practice but it enables me to keep a track of what I have done. My question relates to applying the image to my family tree. I have read the book "Getting the most from family historian" chapter 4 and think I understand how to add images as per the attached IMAGE 1. As can be seen I have two pictures and two Source records. It would seem that despite choosing either image both sources are displayed for both images (compare IMAGE 1 and IMAGE 2 as it).
Is there a way to link a source in the right hand pane to a specific image in the left hand pane.
I have tried to find a specific link in the drop down for "Sources For" but there is nothing specific for the two images. Am I inputting the images incorrectly? If so how can I rectify things so only one source is displayed for each image?

Firstly, may I suggest you do not use ODT files as Attachments as they require users to have particular word-processors installed in order to open them, especially when using an iPad/Android tablet. Better to simply Attach the JPG/PNG screenshots (maximum of 3 per posting) each with a caption. Alternatively, save the ODT as a PDF that every device can open.

The simple answer is 'NO' you cannot add a Source Citation to a Media item. GEDCOM does not allow that.
As you have discovered, the closest you can get for the Individual is the whole record.

What you can do is add a Source Citation to any Link/Note field of the Media record itself.
To do that open the Records Window and Media tab, open the Property Box of chosen Media record, then on its All tab right-click any Link/Note field to Add Source.
However, such Source Citations are somewhat obscure, and do not appear in Individual record, nor in most Reports.

Using Source Citations for personal photos is rather unconventional. Usually the necessary details are recorded in the Media record Property Box where you have available a Title, Notes, Date, Keywords, Link/Notes & Custom Id.

Thanks Mike adding notes was something that discussed in chapter 4 and with your clarification makes sense. I’ll take that approach. Just one point what is the ODT you refer to.

You attached a word processing file with an ODT extension to your post.
