Fact Name

Post by makfai »

Why is the Fact Label appearing in the Event/Attribute list for one of my facts instead of the Fact Name?

If you are talking about Tools > Fact Types then that is the way it works for ALL fact definitions.
The Event/Attribute column always lists the fact Label.
It is just that the Name and Label are typically the same for most facts.

Never noticed that before! Thought the name was the one which appeared because that cannot be changed but the label can. Have been using the name as a shortened version of the label when I should have done the opposite!

Check out the Help for details.
Tick Show Hidden and both Name and Label are listed.
The Name is crucial in defining the GEDCOM tags.
There is also the Abbreviation for shortened fact names.
