In my Control Panel and then Printers
2 show up :-
(1) Family Historian PDF ...properties nova PDF 7 Printer Driver
(2) nova PDF properties nova PDF Std Desktop 7 Printer Driver
Strange and different
_______
I have a shortcut on Desktop nova PDF
the target C: \Program Files\Softland\novaPDF 6\customer-support.html

If I access C;\Program Files\Softland 2 folders show:-
(a) novaPDF6
(b) nova PDF Standard Desktop 7

The nova 6 folder and its files do NOT contain an .exe file whereas
the nova 7 folder contains a 23/5/13 exe application

If I use FH to to print pdf the Print Box brings up Family Historian PDF Type NVK7
If I change the name box to nova pdf this brings up nova PDF Std Desktop 7 Printer Driver NVS7

I think FH version 4 produced the nova 6 ..maybe the update did not remove all the 6 files but somehow removed the .exe file ??

At the end of the day the important thing for me and for anyone else is
What is the correct ...Print box...version number 7.7 and build number ? and on the updates I believe I bought FH 5 again and installed over top of 4 successfully. Maybe the installation did not delete nova 6.
What happens today both for Family Historian and other applications using nova ?? Do we need to install it for FH and then instal; again as a download separately foir other applications ?
Sorry this is so involved !!! but I do not want to delete the wrong application/files or to upset my FH 5.09 application
Thanks for any help

Lorna:
The Family Historian PDF File (novaPDF 6.1 printer) is left over from FH V4 and can be uninstalled, which is what I did, but it is NOT what John is seeing.

In FH, when the Printer Name is Family Historian PDF, click the Properties button, and select the About tab.
Please report which Version and Build number is installed.

John:
The Family Historian PDF printer driver was licensed & installed via Family Historian.
Its installation folder should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Calico Pie\Family Historian PDF\ on a 64-bit PC, or C:\Program Files\Calico Pie\Family Historian PDF\ on a 32-bit PC.
This printer driver can only be used to produce PDF documents from Family Historian.

The Nova PDF printer driver was bought, licensed & installed by you, originally V6 but now V7.7.
Its installation folder is clearly associated with the developer Softland.
This printer driver can be used to produce PDF documents from any application on your PC.
This setup is different from most FH users, who only have a Family Historian PDF printer driver.

Installing FH V5 does NOT uninstall Family Historian PDF File (novaPDF 6.1 printer) installed by FH V4.

As I asked before:
Please use Start > Control Panel > Programs & Features and check all versions of NovaPDF installed.
The FH packaged versions will have names like Family Historian PDF (novaPDF x.y printer).
Those directly purchased by you will have names like NovaPDF x.y.

Also, firstly with Family Historian PDF and then with Nova PDF:
In FH, with the Printer Name as above, click the Properties button, and select the About tab.
Please report the Version and Build number for the two products, and the limitations to use stated further down.

As I said in my previous post, the version in the Printer Name list is 7.7 (I omitted to say build number 387), as expected. I will uninstall 6.1 although it is obviously not causing any problems.

Thanks Mike for bearing with his
In Control Panel (uninstall/change)
There are 3 entries :-

(1) nova PDF Standard Desktop 7.7 printer 1`4/8/2013
Publisher Softland

(2) Family Historian PDF (nova PDF 7.7) printer 5/11/2012
Publisher Softland

(3) Family Historian (nova PDF 6.1) printer 13/7/11
In Printers see snippets there are 2 dropdowns for printing :-
(a) Family Historian PDF
Type Nova PDF7 printer Driver Properties 7.7 Build 387
says at top of box Family Historian properties (see snippet)

(b) nova PDF properties
confusion says Version 7.7 Build 392 ( but note comment on snippet also says Version 6.1)

OK, that is exactly what I expected, and is consistent with all the foregoing postings.

(1) & (b) Is your fully licensed novaPDF Standard Desktop Version 7.7 Build 392.
This you bought directly from Softland and last installed on 4/8/2013.
Its installation folder will be C:\Program Files\Softland\nova PDF Standard Desktop 7\.
You can use this printer driver with any applications (including FH) on one PC.
The shortcut novaPDF 6 and folder C:\Program Files\Softland\novaPDF 6 have been left behind when you upgraded at some time in the past from V6 to V7.7 and both can probably be safely uninstalled/deleted.
In the unlikely event of anything going awry they can be retrieved from the Recycle Bin.

(2) & (a) Is the FH V5 installed Family Historian PDF novaPDF Version 7.7 Build 387.
This is bundled with FH V5, dated 5/11/2012, and is restricted to use with FH as stated in the snippet.
Its installation folder will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Calico Pie\Family Historian PDF\.
FH may be intelligent enough to automatically use the later Build 392.
If not, then you can choose the novaPDF printer driver in the Print dialogue.

(3) Is the FH V4 installed Family Historian PDF novaPDF Version 6.1.
This is redundant and can be safely uninstalled via Start > Control Panel > Programs & Features.

The reference in both snippets to Windows 7 Business Edition (SP 1) - Version: 6.1.7601 (x64) is your Windows 7 (Service Pack 1) 64-bit installed operating system details and nothing to do with novaPDF 6.

The Softland Version History page explains the differences between the various recent Builds.
You can probably legitimately update your (1) & (b) version to the latest Build 394 (24-Oct-2013).
See http://www.novapdf.com/download.html#desktop-editions novaPDF Standard Desktop Download.

P.S.
The page http://store.novapdf.com/ says:
Registration
novaPDF offers an unlimited trial, meaning you can install and use it for how long you want. However, if you don't purchase a license and register it, every page in the PDF files you create will have a footer notice "Create PDF files without this message by purchasing novaPDF printer (http://www.novapdf.com)".
If you want to create pdf files without that footer notice you have to buy a license. After purchasing novaPDF you will receive your registration key(s).
I presume your PDF files produced by novaPDF do NOT have that footer notice.
If they do have that footer notice, then you only have an unregistered, unlicensed, free trial version.

I can recommend "My History" they can even take a Project folder with a Chart design and print it for you.

https://www.my-history.co.uk/acatalog/F ... rvice.html

They can print up to 42" wide and I know they have printed some over 100 feet in length.
