Re: Modern day conundrum
Surely this is just badly designed software and badly thought out idea's. It would surely make sense to have what you are known as now as the main name on the main page of any software with names before either below or attached. I say this because when talking to relations about other relations, the...

Re: New format marriage certifcates in England and Wales from May 2021
Wow didn't realise this information wasn't available on English wedding certs, All of the wedding certs I have are scottish and this information was already on them I just spotted the surnames of the mothers are shown by their married names, and not their maiden names. GRO missed a great opportunity...

Re: OneDrive sync ends next year
That was why a said "soon to be unsupported" after all it is only 10 month's after the Onedrive app is dispatched. I really think this is Microsoft just trying to get peeps to upgrade to their more secure version of Windows by giving them less goodies if you stay on the older version.

Re: OneDrive sync ends next year
I think I would be more worried about having an unsupported and soon to be unsupported version of windows on my PC, than whether it was going to sync OneDrive. As you say, you will still be able to use OneDrive online to store your data and use it across your devices. Best option in the long run is ...

Re: Windows 11
And yet we are all happily typing into FH7 which is having bug fixes constantly applied. I use FH7 and Windows 11 and have not came across any bugs with Windows 11 (So far) although 2 clicks to get to All Apps is a bit bonkers. I think that we have to accept that all software has bugs in it and if w...

Hi Dave/Victor, https://www.mackiev.com/offers/ftm2019/upgrade_promo.html?edition=uk This is the link to the upgrade. It is a 3 day offer so and I got the email on the 30th Nov, so I presume it will run out tomorrow. There was also a whole load of info in the email and it had this bullet pointed:- &...

FTM2019 upgrade
Not sure if this is for everyone who has been a FTM user or just some, but I recieved an email from MacKiev offering me an upgrade to to FTM 2019 including a years subscription to TreeVault for £29.95. I had free upgrade FTM 2014.1 and never made a purchase from MacKiev so not just an upgrade for cu...

Re: Send Part of Tree
Mike Exporting GEDCOM is almost exactly what I want. Using my fathers as example I added query Descendants and then query Immeadiate Family that put everyone in except my daughters partner (Father of their children) and my dads step daughter, but it does add my brothers adopted son. What I really wa...

Send Part of Tree
Hi All, Is there an easy way to split a part of my tree to send to a relative. I could do this with my old FTM very easily, but can't for the life of me find an easy way to do it with FH7. In FTM I would do an export, select (say) my father and then click descendants and FTM would then add my father...

Silly question maybe, but have you shut down your PC and restarted it. You know computers, they sometimes need a restart for some changes to take place even when they shouldn't.

Re: Getting a DEA Divorce
Mark I fully understand the consept of what DEA's do, my gripe has always been through out this post that they are not all there. It is pointless bringing in a system that is there to, in the words of CP- The purpose of these tools is to make data entry significantly quicker and easier by automating...

Helen You seem to think I am having a go at the great work you have been doing, I am not, I appreciate everything you and others are doing. Re: Getting a DEA Divorce
Good summary, William. You have no intention of writing your own plugins, either for your own use or to help others, and you are annoyed that nobody can be bothered to write the one you want now. YES, I have no intention of writing a plugin for myself or anyone elses use. I am not annoyed that nobo...

Re: Getting a DEA Divorce
I think this will just go round in circles, but when I am looking for a plugin I go to Tools then Plugin and either select a plugin I use or search the plugin store to hopefully find something that will help me, if I find what I want I download and use it (No intentions of writing my own). I don't e...

Re: Getting a DEA Divorce
What I meant Helen was when you click on something you expect there to be an option to use it. When I selected Create Source from Template and then in the CR Certificate option you get the option to add a divorce, yet as you have said there is no Divorce DEA. If I was expecting to create my own DEA ...

Re: Getting a DEA Divorce
Helen I was only asking because there was an option and I thought I was missing something when I was trying to use it. I take it that there are not DEA's set up for all things that options have been set up for. Maybe not worded well but I am sure you know what I mean (I hope). I had noticed before t...

Getting a DEA Divorce
Evening, I have tried a few different searches and can't find any help for my problem. I tried to add a divorce using the DEA, but once I enter initial information and click Data Entry Assistant there doesn't seem to be anywhere to go. There is no Record Divorce Data (UK) option, am I missing someth...

Mike T's A&D chart solution works for me. I had just thought there would have been a way to have a pedigree chart with the children as the root and I was missing a simple way to do it.

Two people as Pedigree Chart Root Person
Is there a way to add two brothers as the root people on a Pedigree Chart? I ask as my Grandsons are twins and I was trying to find a way of printing a pedigree chart that had both of them on it.

Thanks for that. I really couldn't think of a reason to search for time of birth, I really only put it in my question in case I thought of some reason at a later date .

Entering Time of Birth and Witnesses
Morning all, I'm not sure if I asked this before but Is there a best way of showing the time of birth? I have started redoing my tree using templates and I realised that over the years the way the time of birth (Scottish certificates) has changed 10h 10m p.m.. , 10:10 pm and 22:10 and it got me wond...
