Re: Recording a Couple marrying twice
Yes Mike and can see where your coming from, but it is slightly different to the situation I have. In the Burton/Taylor situation they had two distinct marriage events that start and end so yes show as two different family couplings. In the case I have it is just one family coupling but they had two...

Re: Recording a Couple marrying twice
Thanks Helen,
That is how I've done it, but just wanted to know what other people would do. Of course I will record the reasons etc.

Recording a Couple marrying twice
I have a couple who have two marriage events, one in Ireland in 1846 and one in South Shields in 1865. They are definitely the same people in both marriages and you can track the family with children around the UK in the 1851 to 1891 census so its is definitely them. The reason for the marriages is ...

That's correct as that is the "Ancestral Source Data Entry" plug-in version no. NOT the Ancestral Source version no.

Re: Source & Citations
Thanks for the explanation Mike.
So as far as your last statement, how do I now add the citation to the ones where I didn't use AS or Automatic source citations. It looks like I could have quite a few to do.

Source & Citations
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this question, it's either FH or AS, but I'm sure Mike will move it if neccessary. It's all to do with Source and Citations, and just to set the scene I'm mainly a splitter not a lumper. I'm also in the process of cleaning up my data and it was during...

Thanks for your thoughts and ways of working.
I'll be deleting all those "Scholar" occupations and setting AS to ignore when creating Occupation facts.

Occupation - Scholar etc
Since being in lockdown :( I've decided its a good time to cleanup of my Family History research both in Family Historian and TNG and to be honest I cannot now see the point in recording children with the "Occupation" of "Scholar" as an event, but will still record it in the &quo...

Thanks Helen for those "Pearls of Wisdom"
Maybe there is a need to have witnesses to the birth, the conception might be a little more difficult.?

Thanks Mike for the info.
I have now solved the problem. I thought if you delete something it's deleted but apparently not. You have to use the "clear" link next to the field and not just delete what's in the fields.

Baptism Entry
I'm not sure if I'm missing somethings but at the moment I am entering quite a number of pre 18th Century baptisms, and in those days the mother was not usually Shown. 1. On the AS Main Info page I uncheck the "Mother" box 2. On the AS Residence page I uncheck the "Mother's Residence&...

Re: Another Deciphering request
Thanks Everyone, I now agree with Mike's idea of it being "Xmas Last", not that I would have even thought of that. The 3 years does fit with the date range for James & Mary's kids being born Mary 1752, John 1755, Elizabeth 1758 and James 1764 so Anne (1761) would fit in the gap between...

Re: Splitting Family Tree & Excluding Spouse's Media & Place Records
Bob,
On the opening page of the export dialog make sure you have selected the Exclude option - Unconnected Records. Then only media, places etc that are associated with the people being exported will be included.

Re: unexpected Media deluge
In the Export Gedcom file dialog box make sure you enable (tick) the "unconnected records" box. This will then exclude any of the notes, media etc that are not connected with the people your exporting.

Export of named List
I am trying to export a named list so that I can run the Export Gedcom plugin to upload to TNG. My main FH file has 10,000 people, about 2500 locations, 15,000 media items and 6000 source records. The named list has only 742 people, however when I look at the exported gedcom, it has the correct 742 ...

Re: Export GEDcom plugin -- some questions
Mike, Thanks for that explanation and I can see where your coming from, but from your example wouldnt that be the case no matter what software you were exporting to? So to clean up the place records, I would have to use the plugin to export to say RM (as thats not in your exception list) and then im...

Re: Export GEDcom plugin -- some questions
Mike, Not sure what you mean by this statement re TNG:- "Exports to GST and TNG retain Place records that link by unique name, so changing the Place names is not allowed, as tidied names may no longer be unique." At the moment I use you excellent Plugin but then manually remove the extra c...

Mike
Thanks for that, I didnt think of that method.
Will give it a go, but basically it is the same as I was doing with RM as a "middle man", but using FH twice to do the same thing.

Export Gedcom File Plugin
Mike Is it possible to add an option to this wonderful plugin whereby one can export Named Lists rather than just the whole file. I know you can export Named Lists via the File-Import/Export Opton, but this is just the basic export. Not suitable for loading into other systems. The reason I ask this ...

Re: Sources, Citations, and Methods
Mike, You need to add the {date} code after {abbr} for the Records window listings ONLY as inserting the initial String removes the date. {=TextIf( Exists( %FACT.SOUR>% ), "*", "-" )}{=TextIf( Exists( %FACT.SOUR>OBJE% ), "+", " -" )} {abbr} {date} {place} exam...

Mike, David.
Thanks both for the tips. I have Trusteer Rapport installed as my Bank uses it.
I first tried just running it as an administrator and everything installed fine, so I'll leave it at that but will keep in mind the removal of Rapport if I come across this type of problem again.
Cheers
