An amendment to one or more of the articles about running FH in a non windows environment seems a easonable suggestion.

Re: Better ways to find where records are used

I think it should be possible to agree a set ob objectives (like your comprehensive result set) without specifying the ui details. CP will have their own design direction for the UI so why waste effort second guessing them. Maybe include some words about 'readily accessible' from wherever it shoule ...

Re: Where does FH store its diagram icon files?

tatewise wrote: 27 Feb 2024 10:30 As far as I recall, the current set of Icons was introduced with the release of FH V7 years ago.

The FHUG KB 2021 Converted Icons provides most of the icon downloads in the new “emf” format used by FH V7.
Worth mentioning those icons don't have transparent backgrounds.

Attention Knowledge Base editors

There is a new way of adding videos to the KB -- please review How to Add Content to the Knowledge Base before you next add a video.

Videos in the Knowledge Base

The KB now has a section for Videos (published on YouTube by members of FHUG and others). I hope this will be of value to people who prefer to learn from videos, as it makes them easier to find. (They can still be found in the Knowledge Base section as well, to maximise their discoverability). I've ...

Re: How do I set up a "place" independently?

I suggest raising a separate query re printing (I'm not an expert, and it could get lost in this thread). To link a Place to a person and have it show up in a report, it really needs to be linked via a Fact. So you may want to create a custom Fact (many people use a 'Biographical Note' or something ...

Re: How do I set up a "place" independently?

Go to the Records Window via image.png . It's worth exploring as you can do a lot from there, if you haven't explored it already. Select the Places tab, right click in some white space and choose New Place. You should think about how you want to include the Place in Reports etc. as it won't show up ...

Re: Question about "Essentials" template set

Other than material on the Strathclyde site, and the Macdonald book (neither of which reference the FH Essentials collection) I'm not aware of anything.

Re Collection and URL, my interpretation is that they're used to record the online location (if any) of the source but it's odd they aren't used.

We'll park whether a plugin should be able to leave a file in a potentially unusable condition by changing the extension but not the actual format. You think it should, I think it shouldn't, and Helen is somewhere in the middle. Perhaps the question is actually "does it need to?". Helen d...

Mike; If I enter "East Peckham, Kent, England", it would geocode, but where would I capture that he actually lived in "The Bush" at the time? You'd either capture it in the Address, or enter a Standardised Place for it that would geocode, for example: Screenshot 2024-02-19 14550...
