Re: Adding a Repository
Mike Thanks for your prompt reply. I am, however, having the following problem with the plugin. Going to the Repository Records and with NO selection, the response is 'Please select just one Repository record', and the plugin State is 'Running'. When I select the specific Repository and hit Run, the...

Adding a Repository
I use AS to enter Censuses (plus all the other info that AS can handle) and set the Repository as 'The National Archives'. Over time, however, I have tended (occasionally) to forget to 'link' the Repository, and now find that I have a LOT of census Sources without Repositories. I have concocted a Qu...

Re: DVD
If you use the Wizard, you can pre-view the DVD as one of the last the last steps, and return if necessary to edit your data and remake. You can do this as many times as you wish, pre-viewing each time until you are satisfied with the result. Then you burn to CD/DVD

Re: Reinstallation of v6 on changing laptop
This may sound smug, but it is because of this very problem that I buy the CD's and keep them safe. I then use the "How to (Re)install..." from the KB on new PC's/Laptops.
Good luck.

Thanks Jane
I hadn't thought it through fully, obviously. My query would only have found those who did not survive.
I will look into the Pension suggestion, as well.

Thanks Jane.
I managed to amend it to exclude those who died before, or after, the War.

Date Range for Births
I am looking to track ancestors who served in WW1, but need to be able to filter those born within a year range (probably 1880 to 1900) so as to have a manageable list. (Also probably males only?) I have looked through Custom Queries and Plugins but can't find what I am looking for. My skill with cr...

Re: Windows 10
Thanks all for your comments. I'll probably lay off it for a while, until teething problems are sorted out.
I guess that W7 will be supported for some time to come, anyway.

Windows 10
Having just been offered the chance (along with half the World, I guess) to upgrade to W10 (I am presently on W7), has anyone had the opportunity to try FH on a trial version of W10, and are there any advantages?
Thanks
Roger

Glenn
You could also use the "List All Citations for a Source" plugin. This will list the Event and other Facts applying to the individual which associate with that Event.

Mike
Thank you. That is exactly what I was looking for. Knowing the method has allowed me to do a similar thing with the Individual Summary Report which is used for unattached people on the same DVD.

Adding Relationships to Reports
After some trial and error, I have come up with what I think is a format for a DVD which I can pass to immediate family. There is, however, one enhancement I would like to make, if possible. It is to add the relationship of the individuals listed in the index to the Root person (each DVD is individu...

AS and Birth records
Nick I have just downloaded V5 and put in a couple of birth certs. - my own plus another. When I look at the Fact sheet for my mother it just states 'Birth' alongside my birth date - with the sentence 'she was a Informant at Birth of.....'. Her Individual Narrative also say that she was an Informant...

Re: Keeping the paper to support the digital
I have used a variation of the 5 Gen system - see link - , using a 2 drawer filing cabinet rather than the filing boxes - 1 for me, and 1 for my wife. Once it is set up it is easy to find everyone you need. Once you get back past 5 gens, you have to do a bit of 'fiddling' to get everyone in, but the...

Unwanted Spouse
I'm pretty sure that this has been asked and answered before, but I can't find it. I have recently found that a spouse who I had linked to an ancestor was not correct, so wished to remove him. Went to her Focus page, right clicked the chap and Delete Record. He disappeared but there is now a blank b...

Re: Report - Address in wrong place
'Twas ever thus.
There is an option to display the address 'In Own Section' which then lists the Address (and Notes) for each Fact under the heading of 'Additional Information' but that appears to be that. (Report Options>Contents)
Cheers

Re: Create a CD
I am gradually working through the various layouts/formats/inclusions etc. for this job with some success, but have 2 areas that I cannot sort out. 1) When I create a Chapter for myself and then open that Chapter, it does not show "SEE ALSO" Roger's Father/Mother etc. above the Name and be...

New Witness Role
When creating a New Witness Role (eg Curate), what does one have to enter in the Past Tense box?
If left blank the new role does not appear (as suggested) but I cannot find anything in Help as to the sort of statement which has to be entered here.
Thanks

Re: Create a CD
Not sure how to Edit these things, but I must have had too many people on the CD. It came up trumps just after I sent the previous note. I will need to play with it to see how different set-ups work. Contents and such need some cleaning up.

Create a CD
I am attempting to create a CD of my family tree for other family members, but am having problems. I do not seem to be able to get past Contents Item 1. I get people into it and can open it from FH CD-DVD. People stuff is shown and the links to relatives work but Statistics and Index come up and say...
