Re: Option to not create an image cache
I set the The Tools > Preferences > General tab, Advanced option to load when needed some time ago and then deleted the ThumbCache.dat That file has not been recreated, a search of my hard drive shows just the remnants shown in the screenshot below. Perhaps that addresses Mark's requirement? I haven...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.6.12 (February 2023)
Hi Nick, I had an unhandled exception issue entering a Baptism. Image and text below refer. I tried again and it worked OK. I think the issue was that I tried to paste an image, setting the name by typing it in - but a file with that name already existed in the destination folder. (Users EH!!!). I d...

Re: Ancestry's "Historical Newspapers, Birth, Marriage, & Death Announcements, 1851-2003"
There are English newspapers on newspapers.com, 16 covering Essex 3 of which go past 1995. Not sure though how these would be referenced in Ancestry hints.

Re: Look up missing burials on findagrave?
While I have found some useful information on Find A Grave, I word of caution: I am finding that there are some bulk uploaders whose information I find lacks meaningful sources. The attached are, without naming names are examples - the volumes I think are cause for concern (just my opinion though). ...

Re: Working with Places
When working with places, in the Place List dialogue box, top right is an Edit... button, which is slightly misleading, as it does not take you to where you can Edit the place, but simply opens the View/Edit Place Details dialogue box, where you have to click another Edit... button, to open the Edi...

Re: Robert Brent M.D. (1819-1872)
The signatures of Robert Brent and Esther Head are similar in each marriage. Those for the bride are less convincing. When did he qualify as a MD. According to the LMA catalogue P85/MRY1/535 is a Register of Banns with some statistics which mentions licences at the back.

Re: EMF icons - specifically sub-UN State flags (Munster, Scotland, Flanders etc.)
I resampled/resized my Scotland Flag and the Ecuador Flag using IrfanView to have a height of 60 pixels. They seem to display quite nicely and are now 18 and 17 kb respectively. I have attached the icon files, the extension will need to be changed to .emf from .txt Screenshot 2022-12-08 140909.jpg S...

I have highly structured method 2 split sources. ...... I use method 1 lumping for the GRO indexes To avoid any confusion: Split sources are Method 1 and lumped sources are Method 2, so you have referred to these the wrong way round. Diagram/Chart Performance
Hi all, I recently found my diagrams and charts were taking much longer to load than previously. A little investigation showed the issue was with a couple of Country Flags I had created. I found that their size was over 320,000kb! Other Country Flags are in the range 1kb to 675kb. Regenerating these...
