Re: FH7 to FTM2019 File Merge Issue

It may be a new tree in FTM but that is only so I can link the names to Ancestry.
My true tree is in FH which I work on.
I have no interest in merging the tree in FTM. I simp0ly delete the old trees and use the newly imported tree from FH which would include the new names that have been added in FH

Re: FH7 to FTM2019 File Merge Issue

No I am not creating a new tree on FTM. The only tree I work on is in FH From time to time I copy the latest tree from FH to FTM. This is only for me to connect the names on Ancestry to see what is available on there. If I find anything new I don't add this to FTM and only FH. Any images I save on m...

Re: FH7 to FTM2019 File Merge Issue

I have FTM 2019 I just copy the FH details and never merge anything on FTM On the left on FTM is a list of files called tre browser. The latest tree I have copied from FH is listed. I just prompt this. Never merge anything. No point in merging as FH is the only tree I work on. I only use this to pro...

Re: FH7 to FTM2019 File Merge Issue

Hi David In reply to your question. Only just read your message When you say you copy to FTM do you create a new FTM project each time or do you in fact use the Merge > File feature that I'm having issues with? No I do not create a new project. The only project I have is on FH and what I copy, from ...

Re: FH7 to FTM2019 File Merge Issue

I regularly update my details on FTM. FH is my default file and I work on that all the time. From time to time (several months apart) I copy FH to FTM. I don't care how it appears on FTM I just use the details for access to Ancestry
To me details on FH is all that matters

Re: Census UK Tab - my take

I add the census image via AS.
The census tab itself lists the census but not the image.
If you go to a person where the census details has been added. Use the facts tab and that will list the4 census of the person that has been added from here you prompt the census image.

Re: Census UK Tab - my take

I haven't worked on census tab What I do is save the census image in a file. I have a folder in FH Projects called family information. In this folder are loads of sub folders with surnames including census and BMD certificates. Using AS I add the appropriate image to the person I am adding details t...

Re: narrative report - excluding some aka names

When I do a narrative report I save it in RTF then save it again as a word document. From the second save I edit it in the way I would like it to be. Most of the editing is to enlage the images like making census image a full page

Re: Infant & Juvenile Mortality

As others have said I don't save indexes.
Ancestry sometime lists the BMD reference details of a person and I save that detail by taking a screen shot (year Quarter Vol and Page No) and copying it to the person it refers to. I find this better than using the tool bar

Re: Error When Importing to FTM 2019

Sorry Mike I didn't make myself clear I haven't had any name errors. If I did I wouldn't worry about them.
I only import things to FTM to provide connections to Ancestry. If any name errors appeared on FTM I would just ignore them as FH is my default tree and I only work on that

Re: Where Born

Whenever you use a place name make sure it is fully correct including the county name. One problem some places were moved from one county to another when the county boundaries were changed in (I think) 1974. You will have to decide whether to use the old county name or the new one. You can keep the ...

Re: Findmypast 1921 census discount

I have downloaded one image. This was of my father and his first family. In previous census they all started with the reference RG11, RG12 etc followed by poice number, Folio and Page number. The 1921 census does not have any of these so it makes it hard to save them for identification. All I can fi...

Re: Who should you add to your tree?

I tend to put names as long as there is a link to them even if not directly related tome. FTM does a good description of names linking to me and example is 'uncle of wife of grand nephew of wife of 1st cousin twice times removed of Victor' It is not doing an harm to the tree and wont show on narrati...

Re: Narrative reports

This my option set up. Just like your posting. This doesn't include census images. I have increased the max number of images to see if any are shown.
Perhaps I should open a previous back up and see if I get the images in the narrative report.
