Re: Feeling stupid...again...
If you think about it there isn't really any difference between editing an existing fact (replacing the date, place and address) and replacing the existing fact with a new fact with the date, place and address in, new citation, etc. Under the AS Options (first page) some users opt to create multipl...

Looks to me like your file path is too long. Don't forget the 255 character limit.

Re: Places in a FH Project Gedcom file
If you are going to edit a gedcom file make sure you take a copy first.
Secondly you are better off using a plain text editor such as the free NotePad++ rather than Excel for any editing. Id does have a search and replace / delete function just like Excel but is far safer for editing a Gedcom file.

Post the photo on here and let us take a look. Also look at some of the Facebook groups to see if someone there can help, but all will want to see the photo.

@Jane had a little plugin that did this some time ago that was only published here in the forum. A forum search should turn it up.

Probably the easiest way is to export your gedcom. The use a standard text editor such as Notepad++ and do a search and replace.

Re: Detecting emulator/Wine by plugin
@Mark
I can confirm that this version of the plugin runs perfectly and identifies Wine when V7 of FH is run on PlayOnMac. So I think that ticks the Mac box with Mervyn's reply unless you want me to check with Crossover.

Re: Timestamp error in Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin
To me, that suggests that Mac/Linux support is a bit of a red herring, and we don't actually need it for real world application...? Definitely not a Red Herring @Mark I run FH on my MacBook Air, which has limited storage and processor power, using Crossover as it will not run a VM at a sensible per...

Re: Timestamp error in Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings Plugin
I would love to retire my plugin but that would leave some scenarios unsupported. e.g. 1) Windows emulators (Crossover/Wine), 2) Beta test FH installed versions This may be an issue for a couple of scenarios: 1: User swaps from PC to Mac or Mac to PC 2: User who has both Mac and PC and takes advant...

Crossover and all Wine variants is not close to 100% on the M1 chip. It is better, but not perfect on Intel processors.

That just leaves Bill & my request for improving the KB chain links for list pages. Mike I have looked into this and if I fix it for this type of page it will break it for all other pages. This page is generated on the fly rather than a hardcoded page. I haven't given up but it is some difficul...

I think that it makes sense what you are proposing @Helen.
The numbers of V6 users seems to be decreasing and V5 is now almost non-existent in posts on this forum.

@Mike
Thanks for that I was not aware I did try to do the in place download as that is easier than updating a PoM installation. I will try downloading it.
Update:
Tried that and get the same error message

FH 7.0.11 update on PlayOnMac problem
I am still running Mojave on my iMac, as I run a couple of 32bit apps. I am running v4.3.3 of PoM as that is the latest that will run on Mojave. I have just tried to update from FH v7.0.5 to v7.0.11 and am getting the following error message Screenshot 2022-03-06 at 15.55.17.png Anyone else come acr...

Re: FH v7.09 and Crossover v21.1 & reports
Ruth I have logged the issue with both Codeweavers and CP, so, unfortunately, we will have to wait for one / both to supply a fix. I have not tried it yet but native Wine, which is using a later version than Crossover, may work. Also it may be worth giving PlayOnMac a try as that may use a later ver...

Don't forget that you can organise the media into folders under the FH media folder, there is no need to keep them in the root folder.

Thanks for that info. Crossover uses a slightly earlier version of Wine than the Wine release version so that may be the issue but I will report it to Codeweavers too.

It seems to be an FH issue and not a Crossover one. I still have FH v6 available in another bottle and all reports run fine in that.

Colin, do those reports have Rich Text URL? The https://www.family-historian.co.uk/v7-updates say under Reports & Website Generation: "If you export a report in Rich Text Format (RTF) any clickable links (e.g. web links) within the report (which aren’t clickable in a report context ordinar...
