Bug in 2.18? - Crash on unlinking spouse
Michael The only way that I am aware of that F.H. can crash is if the GEDCOM file you opened is already corrupt in some way - which in practice means has some kind of invalid links. The next version of F.H., 2.2, due soon, will have a 'Validate' function that checks for this. If you don't mind sen...

Source Summary Report
I can confirm that this is a bug. My apologies for that. It will be fixed in release 2.2. While looking at it I noticed that the initial page throw is inappropriate too (because it can't get the whole thing onto the current page, it starts on the next one). That too should be fixed in 2.2.

Mislinked Diagram from nimrod.blm
This is an issue of diagram layout. I take it you are using the 'Show Spouses' option for spouse display. There is no absolutely standard way of laying out boxes in these diagrams, but the approach Family Historian uses in this case is a very common one. This can be summarised as follows: when po...

Grabber tool in diagrams
I just tried it out in Adobe Acrobat Reader. It does seem useful. So, OK I've taken note.

Grabber tool in diagrams
I'm not a Photoshop user. Does it act as a toggle? I.e. you click it to move into a grabber mode and click it again to move out of grabber mode? It does sound like a good idea in any case.

BUG? nbsp;Individual Report: nbsp;Source Notes
Jane asked me to have a look at this one, and comment. I would suggest that you need to look at your notes and ask yourself: Is this information about the SOURCE, or is it about the CITATION to the Source? Every citation (reference) to a source requires _some_ information about the source. But if ...

Pictures in fields
You can't simply convert fields to records. You're probably best off re-inserting all the pictures. F.H. allows you to insert all the pictures in any given folder in one, so its not as bad as it sounds. You would still have to link the people in the photos to their record, but you would probably ...

FH fails ti accept Gedcom5.5 from PAF
Pete thanks for drawing my attention to this one. The problem is caused by the fact that files in UTF-8 format are basically normal text files except that they start with 3 special characters. If you had a program that would let you delete the first 3 chars from the UTF-8 files you would find that...

Adoptions
Steve - you're doing the right thing. The fact that the birth and adoption are shown twice in the Property Dialog is a bug in Family Historian. You will also find a similar bug in that if you display a descendant diagram for the mother with spouses hidden, the children will be shown twice there too...

Proxy boxes
The point of proxy boxes is to solve the following problems: (a) let you see where a person fits into their parent's family amongst other sibs if any (b) provide a place for the person's other spouses to be displayed, and let you see where the person's 'proxy' spouse (ie. the one who is an ancestor ...

Birth Details of Children in Reports
Jane posted this one to me - as a hint I think. She has previously made more or less the same requests. Anyway, they are on the Wish List and with luck you might get them both in the next release (the add. info one in particular). You can at a pinch get the children's birth details into an Ind Summa...

Newbie question: First cousins marrying
Hi Rob You can use the expansion boxes to hide repeated branches that you don't want to show. Or there is a menu command 'Mark Repeated Ancestors' that will do this for you automatically, and will 'mark' each repeated ancestor distinctively (see the Diagram > Marks menu - you have to be looking at t...
