report window and property box

In the settings, I have the option for the Report/Book Window set to Close it for the Default Property Box Action When Workspace is Opened . Despite this, when I run a report, the property box is opened along with it. I have the property box set to Docked . Am I misunderstanding this option? Is ther...

Robert,

I believe you can open two occurrences of Family Historian and have a different project open in each one.

Re: Import from TMG - Missing Some Citations

I thought this was a bit odd. 'Sources Records - Records Window' in FH (563 sources shown) running the query 'Source Records - All' reports 7593 sources Why would there be such a large descrepency? On my file the source records list has a high record ID of 2598 and the query has 2559 records in the ...

Re: Help - direct line indication in Record view

Thanks for all the ideas, but for now I think I'll stick to using the property box caption to indicate the relationship. This works for me and doesn't result in the last updated date being changed (which I do use) or the child relationship field being set (which I do use for many people other than d...

Re: Help - direct line indication in Record view

David, The only thing about this is that I really don't want to have an * print next to the name on diagrams and reports that are printed out and I wouldn't want it in the GEDCOM file. Having to remember to turn this on and off like that would not be ideal. It would be better if it was just a visual...

Re: Help - direct line indication in Record view

Jane, I was one of the original members to post on this message. It is on the focus window that us old Generations users would really like to have this feature. I do 95% of my data entry from the focus window and still find it very difficult to determine which child is in my direct line. As a work a...

Re: Look Up Missing Census Facts age threshold

Mike,

That was quick. Using the same criteria with the additional option selected, the report is much smaller. That will really help.

Thanks much!

Re: Look Up Missing Census Facts age threshold

Mike, No... I was reporting all descendants of a chosen person. The report had about 1000 entries, but there were many that were for young children that I really don't need to see since their parents are also listed on the report for the same census. As soon as I get the census entered for the paren...

Re: Look Up Missing Census Facts age threshold

Mike, Thanks for the quick update to the plugin. As far as I can tell it seems to be working fine for the given censuses. I have a couple of thoughts though. As I mentioned earlier, it would really be nice to be able to exclude people from all censuses based on age if I could. Now, if I have a famil...

Re: Save Report as... PDF not responding

I restarted my system in safe mode and tried the same report and it worked fine. So then I restarted again in regular mode and it worked there as well. I had tried restarting before I wrote my original post and it hadn't worked then. Oh well... all is working now.

Thanks,
Bill

Re: Save Report as... PDF not responding

Thanks for the replies. Jane, I tried a one page report and had the same problem. I have to run off for awhile, but will try safe mode later to see if that helps. Mike, I did click on OK. Yes it is strange. If I wait about 2 minutes the second window goes away, but no PDF is created. Very weird sinc...

Save Report as... PDF not responding

I just started having a problem where when I create a report and then try to save it as a PDF file, the dialog stops responding for a few minutes and then when the window goes away, there is no sign of the PDF file having been created. I looked around in the forums and knowledge base and saw a few s...

Re: Look Up Missing Census Facts age threshold

Mike, I was thinking that even in later US censuses where children are shown, I would probably exclude young children from the plugin output anyway since the head of household would already be on the output. I don't really need a separate entry on the output for each child. Either option would work ...

Look Up Missing Census Facts age threshold

Hi Mike, I was just wondering if it would make sense to add an option to the plugin so that we could set an age threshold. If the person is under this age then a missing census would not be displayed in the output. It seems like I spend a lot of time wading through suggestions for possible census re...

Re: Multiple Events and/or Assertions

There would need to be one standard Birth/Death Event with a best interpretation of the research assertions to date. This would be what appears in normal Diagrams and Reports . Mike, It sounds like I do something similar to Helen. I have a separate birth event for each different birth date that I h...

Re: Minor changes on this site

Helen,

The thing is that without changing any of these, the new forum allows much less to be diplayed on the same size screen, in the same size browser window, with the same font settings, with the same level of zoom, and with the same number of forums.

Helen - I agree. The new theme does look nice. It is more modern looking. I was thinking that after the theme was set up there wasn't any extra work maintaining it going down the road. I don't want to cause Jane more work. Maybe if she is able to tighten up the spacing a bit it will look better on a...

Re: Minor changes on this site

Mike - thanks for the explanation of how to tell if there are unread posts. Jane - After playing with it awhile, I tend to agree with other comments. The new theme has too much wasted space and things are spread out too much so you can't really get much on a screen. It might look good on a tablet, b...

Jane,

How do you tell if a forum has posts that you haven't read? I don't see any NEW identifier in the new look.
