Re: Parallel Family Historian and Ancestry trees

Hi Mark, thanks for your reply. I used Notepad++, guess maybe that's the cause.
Will start from scratch using notepad.

(I added the print statements to get some output as the batch file opened the command box which closed straight away)

Re: Parallel Family Historian and Ancestry trees

Hi, I have been following this conversation with great interest as I run several parallel trees. My main tree is in FH having migrated from FTM a while back. Once satisfied myself everything had migrated successfully I generated Gedcoms for creating new trees in Ancestry, FMP and MyHeritage with lim...

Re: Wildcards on GRO website

The indexes available at http://www.gro.gov.uk for births to 1916 and deaths to 1957 are new transcriptions from digital copies of the relevant certificates. The indexes available elsewhere are from transcriptions of the original indexes.

I've added fhugdownloads:contents:utility_folder_marker|> Utility ~ Folder Marker . Does it provide a reasonable description? Hi Mike that looks good to me. Whilst Foldermarker changes the original folders, this is not carried through to the Quick Access shortcuts! To get quick access to certain fo...

Re: Mary E. V. Hill's FamilyRoots Organizer Color-coding filing system

I find colour coding excellent. (There is a little program called "Folder Marker" not sure if it is available but it is brilliant as in "My Documents" I can go to the correct folder straight away. It's available at http://foldermarker.com/en/download/ Have just downloaded it, virus scanned and run....

Re: Mary E. V. Hill's FamilyRoots Organizer Color-coding filing system

I have four coloured ring folders, one for each of my grandparents for the paper files and photos. I scan everything I can and keep in nested directories. One branch has folders for record types (census, baptisms, births etc) another has folders for each surname with subfolders for forenames. Those ...

The idea is good but the responses raise some issues. Perhaps an additional Forum called perhaps Expert Advice on FH. A couple of days, it came to light when I tried to exit FH having made changes. FH opened as usual. Remembering that I had changed the setting led me to the solution. It should have been my first port of call.

Yes I did.

Re: Error on saving or backing up small gedcom

My understanding is that the protect folder option was turned on, this means it's up to the user to specify which programs other than operating system level ones can write to the folder. I use Windows defender and have no problems with FH and it's backups so I suspect that it's an option you need t...

Response from Calico Pie: To: David Cooper Thanks for letting us know it's another one we can now advise on.
