Re: Census Records and differing Birth year and Place

Hi Mike

I would say generally yes, the more info/examples present in the knowledge base the better.

Re: Census Records and differing Birth year and Place

Hi Lorna Many thanks for the quick reply - I can see a date range would work (I had not considered that option), so the date range would span from earliest date to oldest date from discovered Census records but what about multiple places? How would you handle that scenario? I'm guessing the Birth Fa...

Census Records and differing Birth year and Place

Hi Forum Looking for inspiration on should I enter multiple birth facts when using AS and the Census Record concerned gives a different birth year or place to other census records? I have used AS extensively to create Census based birth facts but I'm seeing more and more birth facts where the birth ...

Special Characters in ID Number Fields

Hi Forum

I had always assumed the Custom ID fields were alphanumeric. But entering a1 or ~1 is accepted in the field and stored correctly but resolves to 0 when displaying the field in the Individual Records list view. Is there a way to tweak this so the stored value can be displayed?

Thank You

FMP Hints not returning to main Hint page

Hi Forum

Is anyone else experiencing this problem that when I click return to hints the page cannot be found? See screen shot. Is this and FMP issue? Nothing has changed in FH right?

Thanks

Re: Attach Images to Places or Addresses

Hi Mike

Thanks for the quick answer. Is there any guidance or help on attaching the same Church Image to multiple Baptism Source Citations coming from multiple Sources? IE, unique Baptism Source records > related Source Citations?

Hope that makes sense. Thank you.

Attach Images to Places or Addresses

Hi Forum

I have seen a similar post recently but cannot find the answer - so apologies.

Is there a way to attach images to Places or Addresses? I'm mostly interested in attaching an image which is described and recorded as an Address. But would also be interested in a solution for Places.

Thanks

Re: Change Address associated with a Place

Thank you Jane. There are around 50. So I'll tweak them manually. Just wanted to be sure that I had not missed how the address is associated with the place from a database perspective. Thanks for your help.

Change Address associated with a Place

Hi Forum I would like to change the Address associated with a Place but only when used for Baptism Facts. I have been using a generic address, Example, The Parish Church. Now I know the true church name I would like to update all Baptisms for Place = X to have address = Y. Is that possible or is it ...

Hi Jane

Just installed this updated version. It reports V1.8 yet the update notes suggest it should be V1.9?

Re: UK Historical County Mapping Software

Hi David

I agree, all you can do in the examples you mention is to be quite general and place the pin where in all probability that's the most likely place.

Or to be so general that a wider area is chosen as somewhere the county of Oxfordshire - because that's the best info you have.

Re: UK Historical County Mapping Software

Thank you Jim for your explanation/technique. I am already following the first part - use Lat/Long to define where the place is on the map.

The second part I'll need to digest and understand that a little more.

Thanks again for the very welcome input.

Re: GRO Birth Indexes and how to Cite against Birth Fact

Hi Jane - Thank You

Does this technique permanently adjust the image or does it only 'exist' within the FH database? The reason I ask is that my technique is transferable to any platform that can host images such as Adobe Elements.

Re: GRO Birth Indexes and how to Cite against Birth Fact

Thank you Victor - yes I am aware of that possibility. But for my needs I like to download the GRO image (if available) - highlight the individual concerned using image editing software and then create a Source defining the GRO reference data and attach the image there.

Re: Mass Update of Source Data Fields

Hi Mike/Jane I have followed Jane's suggestion and tweaked the AS Source Type settings for Birth, Marriage and Death. So going forward this should clear up the issue. So it's the existing records I need some sort of adjustment/clean up approach. So yes please to your offer of this Plug-In Mike. Stil...

Re: Mass Update of Source Data Fields

Hi Jane

Ah - I see your point. I have kept the Source - Type fairly simple to keep it aligned with AS. I'll recheck the possibilities of using a wider group of source types as you suggest.

Thank you very much.
