Re: Query marriage

Create a custom family query with columns Family, Marriage Date, Marriage Place, Then apply two row filters
Add Unless Marriage Date is null
Add Unless Marriage Place is null

Running gives you all families with a date or a place or both.

Re: One Drive and Family Historian

(Just speculating here.) Going back to the opening post, my impression is that your project is stored in the local copy of OneDrive. If that is the case then your project folder is local, with a synchronised online copy, and all folder and file references in your project refer to the local copy. Whe...

Re: Surname capitalization in reports

Personally I like the surname to be shown in upper-case as it makes it stand out. However, the menu

Tools>Preferences>General, uncheck Display surnames in upper case

makes the change everywhere.

Re: Change Note Field

If I understand correctly your note currently contains only the relationship. If that is the case then the Search and Replace Plugin should do the job. I am including a screen shot of the settings

Re: Using the media folder

Reading this thread makes clear the many different ways people use to store their media files. However, the FH Media Gallery has various ways to find any media record, including querying the file name, so I cannot see any real advantage to using Windows Explorer to find a media file.

Re: How to Import formatting from FTM Notes to FH Notes?

I recall having a number of similar problems some years ago when moving data from FTM to FH and I am still proofing all my data. I can answer one of your questions. When entering text into a note field in the property box detach it into a separate window by pressing the vertical bar at the right of ...

Re: Printing Narrative reports Descendants with Submitter data

Hi Mike. It was just a suggestion and clearly if there was a perfect solution some one would know. I accept the comment about it appearing on every page. However, the OP was asking about narrative reports of which there are only three types so the work is not too great.

Re: Printing Narrative reports Descendants with Submitter data

I think Jane's footer suggestion deserves another look. It is quite surprising how much you can fit in across a footer, however, as pointed out it can only be one line. The following settings, using the same font size as "Produced by Family Historian Footer-Header.JPG give this output in the fo...

Re: Citing the Times Digital Archive

Mark After all, when writing a research report in my old day job, I would cite the various documents referred to, but not when I read them and where I obtained my copy from. I agree, in the days before the internet this was generally enough and was certainly my own practice. But now with many source...

Re: Citing the Times Digital Archive

Thanks for the comments Adrian and Helen. I was interested to see that Helen writes her entire citation within the title. It certainly allows you to do it your own way. However, for me I can see a problem as I sometimes produce reports with reduced citation references by excluding the content (Text ...

Re: Citing the Times Digital Archive

Still dithering and trying to put together the suggestions above! I have no difficulty including all the information that I have within a source record and so basically all that matters is how is looks as a citation in a report. So I examined that a bit more closely. My latest effort is to ditch the...

Re: Citing the Times Digital Archive

A lot of good ideas here and as Adrian says we each have our own way of doing things but it is instructive to see how others do things. I have tried using the Repository Note and agree it gets rid of the Call Number label, which is good, but in a report the Note starts a new line after the Repositor...

Re: Citing the Times Digital Archive

Thanks both. I think I'm getting there. I already have a Repository link on the Main tab of the Source Property Box and have now added a line for the Call Number and the Media Type (although frankly the choices for that are very restrictive). The source below is a sample of a Death notice. I would u...

Re: Citing the Times Digital Archive

Citing the Times Digital Archive

I have just gained access to "The Times Digital Archive, 1785-1985" via my membership of Cornwall County Library and I suspect that eventually I will have a number of citations. So before I get started I would welcome suggestions as to how make the citations. My initial thought was to use ...

As you say that is cunning. I have to say, as an absolute newcomer to callbacks, that for me the most exciting thing was being able to change the font size. My eyes have been suffering with the default 9 pt fonts.

Re: iup.GetParam boolean

Thanks again Mike, I didn't think of adding a global variable. I think it needs to be set up at the initialisation check of the dialog to ensure it's value matches the current dialog title.

A slightly more general question about iup.GetParam checkboxes. iup.GetParam boolean

Just a curiosity. I was playing with the various options with iup.GetParam to try to get some feel of it and I came across the follwing. Using the %b option with no extra [Yes,No] or whatever the result when checked is to return the initial value res, boo = iup.GetParam("Title", nil,"...
