Re: A simple to-do list

Mike My requirements are the same as Helen's it is just we disagree on desirable vs must have. My view is that BOTH Repositories and Sources should be sortable so as to group all research required at a given Repository or Source should be grouped together so that a list can be prepared for any resea...

Re: A simple to-do list

Mike I think you should split the thread if you are going to move it. I would like a proper To Do List along the lines of what has been previously suggested. I just see this latest series of threads as a 'work around' and not a proper sortable To Do list. Hopefully we can get a consensus and formula...

Re: Privacy and GDPR

I agree with Helen that the moment you publish it online you are within the scope of GDPR. I did an online course on GDPR prior to it going live and asked this question as part of the interaction with the tutor and he was of the opinion that it would be within the scope but would probably need testi...

Re: Privacy settings

Are you a resident of the European Union? If you are then you could do this using the GPDR legislation. If you aren't then you will have to check out the T's & C's on the My Heritage site.

Re: A simple to-do list

Helen, I think that Repositories is more important if for instance I am going to a particular Town, whilst there go to the graveyard and search for xxx gravestone. So a search on 'what have I got to do at this repository' only one item so check others and at 6 at this other repository so I will plan...

One thing to add to the minimum imho would be 'Repository' be it website or physical location such as library, graveyard etc.

Re: Personal Historian Essentials from RootsMagic

Interesting the Mac version is huge in comparison with the Windows version so it is probably packed into a dedicated Wine package.

I will give it a try.

Update...
I downloaded the Windows package and installed it on my Mac using PlayOnMac and it installed fine with no dependencies.

Re: Who was living at 22 Castle Street, London around 1907?

Jane

What about looking for pages either side in the census for an unusual name then putting that person into the search for the electoral roll. Hopefully they will still be living there and you can then search Castle Street.

Mac Crossover Users update

If you are running Crossover on a Mac (I don't know about Linux) make sure you do the update to v18.5.0. I have been running the beta and it does not now crash Family Historian when you update a gedcom in Ancestral Sources that is open in FH. :D :D

@Mike

Is it worth adding a zip file of the pl folder to the KB? It may make it easier for people having similar issues.

SUCCESS

I zapped the pl folder in PlayOnMac and copied again from my VM and the plugin is now working fine without the change suggested by Helen earlier in this thread. :D

Mervyn

Does your pl folder have anything other than lua files in it? That is all that mine has and yet the error messages indicated that some dll's were missing.

Thanks for that but what is the edit required? There is no reference to C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Plugins\ in the plugin code.

Re: New Multifact plugin

I have spent the afternoon trying to resolve this and can't. Those files do not exist in those locations on my other Mac that uses a virtual machine, so I am at a loss. Why is pl needed for this plugin whereas others don't seem to require it.

Re: New Multifact plugin

Helen

I will do some more digging this afternoon but it looks like one of the updates to Wine or the Mac may have messed with something.

I now get this error message.

Looking in the pl directory none of those files exist.

Re: New Multifact plugin

Helen

I don't have the Research facts plugin installed I removed it as I found I didn't use it.

This may be a Wine issue as I run on a Mac. But all the other plugins that I use run fine.

When I run the plugin I get a 'This plugin requires pl support...' Clicking OK I get the error message ' An error occurred in Download please try later.

Can I get pl support elsewhere and add it before running the plugin?

Re: PAF5 inport

There are a couple of options that I am aware of. 1: Download the free version of Ancestral Quest, it will read the PAF file and convert it to a Gedcom that you can upload to FH . 2: Download PAF from one of the many sites that have it available for download such as http://mpafug.org/PAFprograms.html

Re: Problems with extended families in AS

Don't forget in AS you can add unrelated individuals by clicking the icon of the person with a plus sign on it. I use this for servants etc when adding census entries as I have found on several occasions they later become spouses to people in my tree. If the role is not in the dropdown list you can ...
