Re: Copying or creating an Event

You're right Mike, I just check the settings I used to use on the export and _PLAC is passed through unchanged. So it's just a case of using both Location and Location2 as columns within Gedsite. Can't check further as I've uninstalled the product.

Re: Copying or creating an Event

Short answer is: yes, it's possible and very straightforward. However, I don't use Gedsite any more and can't remember how I did it; but I think I used to include a column for Location 2. (I also used Mike Tate's Export Gedcom plugin, which might be part of the solution.)

Re: Issues with Clean Up Notes

I'm pretty sure Jane didn't change it on prosilver (as she's always said she won't customise that theme), so it must always have been that way. So it's always been inconsistent (but the two major themes and one colour variant were at least consistent), and now they're not.

Re: Subscribe/Unsubscribe topic

I think the fact that the wording associated with the icon is correct (and changes when you subscribe or unsubscribe) plus the fact that you get a big message telling you what you've just done, should be enough to avoid any confusion.

Re: Narrative Report Heading how to change it?

Looking good, Kylie. You'll want to make sure you have a more specific title for the source :) because you'll have loads of marriage certificates. And type would be more typically something like 'Marriage' or 'Marriage Certificate' not 'Event' -- it's a type for the source document.

Re: Repositories

'Lumped' sources would would absolutely have the problem e.g Bishops Transcripts Salisbury (Stalbridge Parish). For which the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre are the repository, and if you're doing a one place or one surname study... but have only surveyed the first 100 years... (Says she, who ...

Re: Repositories

To be fair to Mike, it's easy to fall into the trap of expecting everyone to work as you do... whereas I'd just programmed Research Planner to include the possibility to search for tasks linked via one or more sources to a particular repository, so it came immediately to mind.

Re: Repositories

Why do you need to know your list of Sources you happened to find in any particular Repository?
One obvious answer is if you're going to visit that repository online or physically and want to know what you might want to consult if you've still got work to do with that source.

Re: Narrative Report Heading how to change it?

You're about to get bombarded with information about sources, so I'm jumping in quick to suggest you read a couple of things (both of them in the Knowledge Base which is an excellent supplement to the user manual). Once you've read them, you'll be bound to have some more questions, but we'll keep qu...

Re: Research Planner Version 2 -- request for beta testing

Since it was only in Beta testing here, I didn't think I ought to give it a new version when I put it into the Plugin Store -- it's essentially the same code.

Re: Research Planner Version 2 -- request for beta testing

Ron, the only bugs found during beta testing were related to the help file handling (and contents so you should be fine to keep using the version you've got -- or download the version from the Plugin Store if you'd prefer the final tweaks incorporated.

Re: Ancestral Sources cannot find my Project in FH6

Might not have been FH that had the file open on both PCs -- FH on one and AS on another?

The important thing is not to have the project open on any two PCs at once.

Re: Ancestral Sources cannot find my Project in FH6

I;m not familiar with OneDrive but using Dropbox and having the same project open on two PCs at the same time can result in the creation of "conflicted copies" -- two copies of a file with different updates from the different PC. I wonder if something like that has happened here. Updated: Just googl...

I suppose (hope) it's vaguely encouraging that here are no more bug reports...

Will fix the reported typos, update the help file and Knowledgebase (especially around downloading the Help file) and publish sometime next week.

Do each of the detail Pages need a hyperlink somewhere back to the top level Page?
I know there is the Related Pages Backlinks at the bottom, but is that enough?
I think a link back to the starting point makes excellent sense.
