Ah yes, I see that now. OK, I've added 1901 - 1902 to that box and the Fact now looks OK.
I'll leave it at that and will bear the Attribute/Event setting in mind in future.
Thanks.

Custom Fact has a colon at the end
I created a Custom Fact called Second Boer War and it appears as Second Boer War: when used. I've already searched for similar posts and found one that suggests that this is caused by importing from RootsMagic: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=118732#:~:text=Custom%20facts%20with%20a%20...

Thanks Mike.
Lots to think about there. I feel like I'm not going to go ahead with the idea but you've supplied useful information.

Exporting a portion of a database complete with source media
I may not go through with this but I have an idea to send someone a small portion of my family tree, complete with source records and media, as a GEDCOM file. In this way they could import it to their program and have all the information to hand to help with a conundrum I have but without my sending...

Re: Family trees on Ancestry can be useful
I've found that Ancestry trees can provide useful pointers, even though some information is obviously wrong For example, I recently came across a tree which had an ancestors birth, death and marriage dates, complete with a link to the marriage registration. The obvious flaw was that the birth and de...

Re: Allow Report sentences to recognise Individuals who are Living.
Thanks Mike and everyone else taking part in this. Yes, I have been very interested to read the various comments - I didn't realise that there were so many ramifications to my suggestion. In my particular case, I've now realised that the individual records concerned do not have any birth details at ...

Allow Report sentences to recognise Individuals who are Living.
Currently, certain auto generated Report sentences describe all individuals in the past tense, e.g. "Joe Bloggs was the son of Fred Blogs and Mary Smith". My suggestion is for these sentences to be constructed differently for those individuals whose Record Flag is set to 'Living' so that t...

How to suggest a new feature or improvement?
How do I contact the developers and make a feature/improvement request?
I want to ask them to consider a change whereby a Reports sentence like "Joe Bloggs was the son of ....." appears as "Joe Bloggs is the son of ....." if the individuals Record Flag is set to 'Living'.
Thanks.

I'll have a look at the setting you mentioned anyway.

Change 'was' to 'is' in a Report
I've just noticed that in my Descendants by Generation Report, when it gets to those people who are still alive, it still uses sentences like "Joe Bloggs was the son of Fred Blogs and Mary Soap". Is there any way to flag people who are still alive so that these sentences read "is the ...

Re: Calculate birth date from death date and age
Sorry but one of us is confused.
The death date and age is from a grave stone. OK, it may be inaccurate but accepting that it is correct, how close can the birth date be estimated to be?
And does FH have some sort of built-in calculator?

Calculate birth date from death date and age
Just wondering if FH has something built-in. For example, if I have an ancestor who died age 79 on 24/04/1919, what is the closest I can get to his date of birth? I did find an on-line calculator (Omni) that seemed to be miraculously accurate (see screenshot) but must surely be approximate. Any help...

Find records for certain Places?
If I go to View/Other Records/Places, is there a way to select a particular Place and somehow view the Record/Fact that has that Place recorded? I'm asking because I occasionally find a fact has a certain Place that I remember from somewhere and want to see where it appears elsewhere in FH. (eg a co...

Re: Rename external media already used in a source
Thanks guys. I've had a good play around with that - looking at both of your suggestions. I'm pretty sure I've already been in those various dialogue boxes but the interplay between them and the fact that the top menu Media option appearance is contextual had me confused in the past. (I'm not a fan ...

Rename external media already used in a source
OK, I know that this question is very common, so I've done a lot of searching before posting this. I still can't find out how to do it - perhaps because some answers are based on older versions of FH. I have media files (.jpgs) used in Sources and I occasionally want to rename one as I gradually imp...

Re: Unlinked Sources - delete?
Thanks to you both for that extra information. I have now started to use identical existing Sources for various Facts - I hadn't really understood that method until recently. However, my method has been rather crude - find the common Source where it exists for another Fact, copy it, go to the approp...

Re: Unlinked Sources - delete?
Thanks. Back into the murky world (for me anyway) or Sources and Citations. So I select a Fact then click on Show Sources. A window opens inviting me to add a Citation. So I think, is this me creating a Source first then adding detail/media to it that constitutes a Citation? When did I create the So...

Unlinked Sources - delete?
If I go to View/Other Record Lists/Sources and choose to sort the Links column, I see loads there with '0' links, some with 'Pics etc' but most without. Do these perform any function? Should I delete them? The only way to do that seems to be to highlight one and use the keyboard delete key - which s...

Showing multiple Source Images with a single sentence in a Report (Solved)
Edit: I've found a method for this, as shown at the bottom of this post. This is really hard to explain but here goes. I have an individual with three Census Facts, each with a different year. In the Report, this shows as sentences like "XXX appeared in the Census in 1906", "XXX appea...
