Re: Newly added child will not sort according to birth date
With all due respect, you said: " The default sorting of children by birth order is a standard feature across the board with genealogy apps. " The others have suggested that it is not a standard feature across the board and your only example so far is the obsolete unsupported product TMG. Mike, are...

Re: Newly added child will not sort according to birth date
@woodr2011 I'm surprised that you you believe the default in other applications is to automatically sort the order of newly entered children, eg. both Family Tree Maker and RootsMagic do exactly the same as Family Historian, i.e. leave it to the user to reorder children if/when necessary and provid...

Re: Newly added child will not sort according to birth date
This is a recurrent question. See FHUG Knowledge Base Sorting Children, Spouses & Facts into Date Order . Thank you, Mike. I am quite surprised that one would need to prompt the software to do this sort of thing. The default sorting of children by birth order is a standard feature across the board ...

Re-order Events by Date as a preferential UI setting
I would like to see the Re-order Events by Date incorporated into the UI as a Focus Window preference that would apply to all family groups within a dataset. It is rather tedious to have to F9 every time I add new children to a couple in order to see all of them in proper order by DOB.

Newly added child will not sort according to birth date
When I add a new child to an existing family group within the Focus window, the new child always appears on the bottom of the list of children rather than in the correct order according to date of birth, and he or she remains there (at the bottom). Is this a setting?

Re: Make name suffix visible in F, P, & R windows...
The 'Add Name Suffix to Full Name' plugin runs OK but with some caveats. It tells you how many names have been changed but does not list them! However, in the Records Window click on the Updated column header and they will be listed at the top with today's date. If both forms of suffix exist such a...

Make name suffix visible in F, P, & R windows...
Is there a way to make a name suffix such as Jr. or Sr. visible within the Focus, Properties, or Records windows? It seems to be restricted solely to reports.

Re: Punctuation in reports
Thank you, Mike. I have contacted CP with the issue. I would like to see an option in reports to omit or to include that period for this (and other) reasons. Editing all of those fact sentences would be a tedious task. Just as an aside: I deselected the 'Use Short Form for Repeated Place Names' box ...

Punctuation in reports
I tend to prefer traditional abbreviations, such as Vt. for Vermont, rather than VT. I am noticing however that the sentence structure of each fact tag includes periods, resulting in an extra period at the end of each sentence, such as: Julius Smith, son of Asa Smith "2nd" (1786-1846) and Ede Bullar...

Re: Font size in How Related results window?
If this is a eyesight related issue, why not just use the native Windows solution, i.e. the Magnifier app, or one of the similar third-party freeware applications, which might offer more options and would work across all applications, not just Family Historian. Personally, I can't see Calico Pie co...

Font adjustment option in transitory windows
It would be most appreciated by those of us who are of the nearsighted persuasion to have font enlargement options added for transitory windows such as the one below (there are several others in the UI). TIA!!

Re: Font size in How Related results window?
I presume you are talking about the popup window shown below. That is the window, yes. I understand the transitory nature of the window, however, the font is so minuscule that some of us who are a bit nearsighted struggle to see the View Report option. This would be a valid feature request, certain...

Re: Change Anecdotes to Notes?
Is it possible that one person may have more than one Anecdote fact? If so, all the Anecdote fact Notes must be merged into one record level local Note, which might already have other text too. A potential benefit of Anecdote facts is they can be given a Date so they appear in the correct chronolog...

Plugin to convert TMG Anecdotes to ordinary FH Notes
Martin of CP has converted my TMG database to an FH7 project, and it is working beautifully! Just out of curiosity: The import process pulled over the Anecdote tabs that contain biographical data and placed them as Anecdotes under the Note tab in FH, but I would like to convert them to ordinary FH N...

Martin of CP has converted my TMG database to an FH7 project, and it is working beautifully! Re: Import error from TMG
Hi, Mike: Thank you for replying. I suspect some minor issue in the TMG database is the root of the problem, so I am running validation and optimization on it before attempting the import again to FH 7. I have reached out to CP, and they are happy to do the import to FH for me, which will be the bes...

Import error from TMG
I am trying to import my primary TMG database of 177,563 individuals into my fully licensed copy of FH 7. I am doing a direct TMG-->FH import (i.e., a full copy of the TMG database, not a backup or a GEDCOM file). Each time I try to finish the import, I get the following error: "An error occurred du...

Warning feature for changes in Properties screen?
Is there an optional warning feature (a popup that asks "make this change?") when editing dates in events in the Properties window? It seems to be quite easy to change numerical values inadvertently while in that window.

Are you concerned about the order of the Birth, Baptism, Marriage, Death, and Burial facts? Note that th...
