Re: Places & Address
Hi Mike
I'm trying your last hint, but wonder if there is something I'm missing, I selected one address & place, but the results are for all the same places in the database. Is it that the subsets only apply to the 'Place' ?

Re: Places & Address
Thanks Mike for all your input, having played with the plug-in on the sample project, I tried a few variations on my own project. The problem I found was my Places/Addresses are so irregular, that your plug-in didn't stand a chance ;) I have decided to carry on working through Addresses and geocodin...

Re: Places & Address
I don’t understand why you would want to do that, doesn’t make it easy for autogeocoding - but hey, each to his own What I did spot in you query results is that you are inconsistent in how you use commas and spaces when you specify a place for the residence. I spotted ,[space]Croft,[space]Lancashir...

Places & Address
I'm sorting out my Places & Addresses, as over the years I've left a mess. I decided to have the address as the first column in Places. I'm happy to search obscure locations on various maps (I'm a "Mapolic") to obtain the co-ordinates. Is there any way to link the Address links across ...

Re: Undo/redo in notes
I've experienced the same problem, I've just done a test using WordPad and a note window in FH. Typing a set of four lines in wordpad (Test1 etc) I pasted each line separately into FH, when pressing undo all lines disappeared, yet in Wordpad I could go back line by line and then go forward line by l...

Re: Viewing and editing citations
If i'm going to stay with FH, I guess I need to switch to being a splitter until FH gets around to allowing for both Lumpers and Splitters when it comes to citations. I'm a splitter in FH, but that is only because its design handles splitting much better than lumping. My preference (influenced by n...

Re: Editing Rich Text Table
I've just added a couple of 1939 registers using AS, and I generally use "fit" , then click on text to open up the text box for fine tuning, and removing any unused columns. The links were retained on opening in FH. Thanks for Colin Mc for his post, as I hadn't discovered the "link&qu...

Re: recent update
Ian, did you use the FH Help > Check for Updates > Upgrade Now option? IMO that has proved to be a problematic method. It is much more reliable if you use the https://www.family-historian.co.uk/install7 link. The way I find that URL is via the CP Downloads > Download Archive https://www.family-hist...

And make sure that you keep the install files, as CP do not provide a method for downgrading if a critical feature (for you) has problems in the new release... Ancestor/Descendant count
How can I remove the above from my fact tabs in the property box, I've looked everywhere to no avail. The problem is if I use the query "unsourced facts" I get a huge list, but the unsourced facts are a tiny proportion, the rest is a greyed out list of Ancestor/Descendant count. cheers Ian...

many thanks for all your input, I'd forgotten how much info is on genuki (thanks Helen) I'd looked at the Wootton's previously to no avail, but briefly looking at Watton on genuki I notice a Saham Toney very close, where his first born was baptised ,so more trawling through church records to come !!...

Census : Entering text from source, I add all refs below the templated output (belts & braces !) ,after pressing 'text' for the full note window. All appears fine, and I copy the entire note to a rtf. file. When I close AS note the text changes (see attachments). Is it something I'm doing wrong ...

If you go to top right corner of edge browser, and click on a "down" arrow, then "three dots" you'll get a menu for download settings, I have mine set to a desktop folder 'Pending' from which I can organize
Hope that makes sense !!

Birth Facts from 1939 register
Hi Nick I've been inputting a no. of 1939 registers, and have realized the full birth date I input has not transferred to my FH project. I've since realized I had not set Options correctly (see screenshot of correct setting). I've a feeling I know the answer, ;) but is there any quick way to revise ...

Re: Virtual Family Historian PDF printer accidentally deleted
I'm running FH version 5.0.11 on a Windows 10 Home PC. I accidentally deleted the virtual FH pdf printer, so I can't make pdfs any more. There were posts about this around 10 years ago which seem to suggest I have to upgrade my FH version to get the "printer" back. Is that so? Thanks I ha...

Re: Custom Templates
An enum field allows you to choose from a set of predefined values (specified in the source template e.g. England|Scotland|Wales|Ireland), so would not help you with a dropdown list of family members. Somebody looking from outside might think you're specifying informant in both a source field and a...
