Re: Convert citation note to source note?
Thank you very much Mark and Mike for your help. Mark: I tried your old version (which I have saved a copy of now) and it worked perfect for what I wanted. Mike: Your right, the "Find Duplicate Citations" would have ended up with my losing the different URLs. I think this older plugin fixe...

Re: Convert citation note to source note?
Yes that is correct Mike, there is only one citation. What happens then is when I merge the sources ( the example I gave before was x3 1880 census, but I have thousands), the source ends up with the same record number, but there will be x3 copies on a fact for instance because the citation notes dif...

Re: Convert citation note to source note?
Hi Mark: Sorry, I guess I was typing and thinking at the same time you were posting. Yes each source only has exactly one citation note. It's not a hurry. This is the same file from my brother that I'm waiting on to do a final import from FTM to FH 7 because there currently with 7.0.22 is a bug with...

Re: Convert citation note to source note?
Hi Mike Thanks for the input on this. Part of my process is already taken care of by some of your other plugins: First I used your plugin to convert all the citation note URLs to be clickable already using your plugin (Move Note URL to Rich Text Weblink). I also use your plugin (maybe it never made ...

Convert citation note to source note?
Hi Folks: This question is a little different than my previous citation question. Background: The Lumped Source Splitter was run on the file so all sources are unique. Most of the sources have a citations note section with a url such as: citationnote.png All of the sources have only one (unique to t...

Re: Merging Citations in FH7?
Hi Folks I have a related question. If I use the plugin to convert from lumped to split sources (like my other trees) then merging sources could work correct? I ran a test and it seems if all the data is in the source area (including media, etc.) then merging appears to be easy? (I tried a couple an...

Merging Citations in FH7?
Hi Folks: I know how to merge sources in FH. I have a new file created originally in FTM 2019 from my brother that is using lumped sources. The problem is that (for example) he might have 3 different 1900 census' on the same fact. The source is the same for all three, but each has a different citati...

Problem Importing Place Descriptions into Address field
Hi Mike: Almost a couple of years ago you helped me with importing the place description field in FTM 2019 into the address field of FH: 20773|Importing Descriptions (addresses) from FTM to FH I had given a copy of my tree to my brother who was using FTM, and now I'd like to import his copy into FH ...

Re: Switching tips? (RM->FH)
This reply is probably too late for the original OP, but for others moving from RM to FH. One function that I found in RM 8/9 to be outstanding is the place clean (and maybe the name clean) feature. I had thousands of place names that were so messed up from combining Ancestry sources and FamilySearc...

Re: New version of Ancestry Synchronization plugin
I created a very short video to show what I'm doing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c22GAhJxrNo As you can see for some reason it is not 'keeping' the link after being selected. The version of FH I'm using is .21 and the latest version of RM 9 (9.05). The RM file opens just fine in RM. I have this ...

Re: New version of Ancestry Synchronization plugin
Hi Jelv and Mark: I had tried it both ways. First I had imported the exported ged file into a new RM 9 database. Then I selected the RM 9 database using the select button from the plugin, but nothing happened. That is no database or link to the database then showed in the plugin. Only then did I syn...

Re: New version of Ancestry Synchronization plugin
Hi Mark I must be dense... I'm not getting this to work for me with the new ancestry sync 2.0 plugin. First I exported the new gedcom. Then I imported it into RM 9 and synced it with Ancestry. Next when I click on the select button and choose the file, nothing happens. I can't get the plugin to sele...

Exporting Templates using the Essentials Collection to Rootsmagic
Quick question: If I decided to convert my census records to use the essentials templates of FH, is there anything I need to be aware of when exporting to RM 9? (I haven't used them yet. Just wanted to make sure all the data would be included. It doesn't matter if it all gets stuck in the title or w...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Hi Mike: I ended up installing a trial verision of FH 19 on a different computer to do the export and it exported fine. On the computer I was using, as soon as I would click the run button nothing pops up. After I had posted below I deleted it and downloaded the latest version from the plugin store....

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Thank you Mike for working on that I appreciate it. My copy of FH 7 (latest version) seems to not be able to run it though. Each time I try to run the export plugin it freezes FH and nothing ever shows on the screen. I have restarted FH a few times, restarted my computer, changed to a smaller FH pro...

Re: direct import RM 9
I just tried a practice import from RM 9 to FH. From a quick scan looking at several ancestors it looks like everything imported properly. I haven't added any data to the fan club stuff yet in RM 9 or saved any searches but those likely would not import. It would seem that with an update FH 7 could ...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Sure Mike I'm happy to help. Here are some comparisons: I did a full export using all the default settings to Rm. On the left are the default settings and on the right are with my modifications. (I also forgot to add that I used an sql statement to copy the citation webtag to the source webtag): htt...

Re: Ancestry Synchronization now in Plugin Store
Ok, Mark I'm an idiot when it comes to 'having' to use the latest version of software. I saw the blurb today for RM 9... so of course I had to buy it! Hopefully it won't be as buggy as RM 8 was when it came out. Tomorrow I'm planning on using your plugin to upload a new private tree to ancestry usin...
