Re: Exporting All relatives plus indirect relatives
Thanks again. The gedcom export of a named list worked perfectly. The only things that didn't make it was the formatting of URLs embedded in notes, but the http strings made it through ok. So a quick search for http enabled me to put them back as links.

Exporting All relatives plus indirect relatives
I did search but couldn't find a specific answer to my question. I have created a small family tree within my main project that I would like to export to a new project. It would not just be the ancestors of the main person but all their indirect relatives as well - the same set of people that would ...

I don't know whether you know this. But there is a brief entry in findagrave.com for Roman Abraham Ferst who died 31 July 2003. He is buried in Bushey Jewish cemetery.

Children listed vertically on a descendants chart
Does anyone know please if there is a way of showing the youngest generation on a descendants tree vertically under their parents? A bit like this stylised example. I have tried all the standard charts in FH 7 and I am purely interested in saving space on the chart.

descendants chart from Focus Window
Does anyone know if there is a way of printing a chart in the format found on the Descendants Tab on an individual's focus window? By the way I tried to do a Snip copy and Ctrl-v paste into this post but nothing happened when I pressed Ctrl-v, what am I doing wrong please?

Re: Source & media naming
For all my media files and any other documents I keep, whether inside or outside of FH, my naming structure is always Surname, first names, year of birth and then the document type and possibly its reference. This means I can easily sort and find documents for an individual, which is what I am mostl...

Re: Bug in hyperlinks in narrative reports
I suspect they cannot resolve the problem in PDF because they are created by the 3rd party NovaPDF Print utility. What happens to the hyperlinks if you use a word-processor such as Word to export the RTF as a PDF? Mike, I must apologise. I didn't spot your question all that time ago. Using MS Word ...

Re: Best way to print family tree for 80 year old
I assume you already know that FH can print out the tree on as many A4 pages as needed, and you can sellotape them together? The text is then full size. To see the page boundaries on your tree click the Page icon which should be on the second line of icons at the top of the screen. You will need to ...

Re: Best way to print family tree for 80 year old
I produce the diagram in PDF format then send it to a company called My History Limited to print it out. https://www.my-history.co.uk/acatalog/Printing-your-chart-design-PDFCHART.html#SID=519 Their service has so far been lightning fast. (I am sure there are competitors.) I have sometimes had to pla...

Re: wrong parents
Hi
That Changing Relations page doesn't actually answer the question. I have always done this change by using the Edit menu option to Unlink From the current parents then adding an existing couple as the new parents. But is there an easier way?

Re: Individual Narrative PDF Reports & URLs
I still have that problem with long URLs such as https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/?fbclid=IwAR1EiVFddG02EGsDnw2qEJRd1PrzHdRQ0gyd6vktcb7rbxKP-20tINWX-FM#zoom=17&lat=54.75821&lon=-1.61009&layers=168&right=BingHyb even in Arial font. I used to have the same problem with .RTF...

I know it isn't the normal convention, but I prefer left to right charts, rather than top down, as they seem to use far less paper.

Re: Bug in hyperlinks in narrative reports
An update. Calico Pie have fixed the hyperlinks bug in .rtf narrative report files, so they are now clickable. They do not seem to have fixed it in PDFs yet. I have seen the .rtf fix which will be in FH 7.0.9.0. They didn't provide a release date.

Re: Bug in hyperlinks in narrative reports
For information, this is what the support team replied with. "Family Historian does not currently support exporting web links as clickable links to either PDF or RTF. Instead, web links are exported as text. If the text is displayed as a link (i.e. the "Display Text" field is left bla...

Bug in hyperlinks in narrative reports
Assuming it isn't me being dumb, has anyone else found a way around this please? I have added hyperlinks to some people's Note fields, to reference National Library of Scotland maps and various other external sites. They all work from within FH, but I have had to report a bug to Calico Pie (no #7766...

Hi Mike. Yes I believe it is the last one, the inverted ancestors report. I use the current ancestors report but I do find it slightly odd to read about people in that order. It would be nice if someone could show us one from other applications. Regards Ian

Re: Narrative reports by descendants repeated
Hi. I am just being curious, as I do not fully understand what you are trying to do, and am keen to learn more about reporting. Are you trying to produce a report of all (and only) your direct ancestors listed from oldest to youngest? Rather like the current ancestors report which goes from youngest...
