Re: Should I just give up using the "EE" Templates

I'm not sure I could be polite about it!

I looked at EE and decided it's not for me.

My criteria is simple - does the citation contain enough info to enable me to find the source again.

Re: Source Splitting for Electoral Roll

Thanks Phil - they look nicely structured if Mike wants to pursue the plugin route. One general question, as he doesn’t normally login until mid-morning UK time - I’m not familiar with Australian electoral rolls, so how do you use them for occupation? It makes no difference to any plugin, just curi...

Re: For discussion: Wish List guidance and rules

Or am I just a saddo for going to the FHUG every day? ;) Multiple times a day for me, direct to Home page where I can see all unread posts, but also any news, like a new FH update. I'll happily join the saddo club - however I also check on Christmas Day (no children for me) so maybe I'm in the sadd...

Re: footnote, short footnote, and bibliography text

Mike, Why do you feel you have to explain everything, when it’s clear from my comments that I know what the shortcomings of the simple script are and how to fix them? I like it when Mike (or anyone else) gives full explanations, particularly when the post/thread being replied to is not clear or is ...

Re: Find my Past... or Ancestry ?

Check out your local library or family history group. I don't know how it works in the UK, but here in Australia (Orange, NSW in particular for me, but other local libraries have similar facilities), the library provides free access to Ancestry and FindMyPast from PCs in the library. And the Society...

Re: Important: Forum update

Yes, I know a zero means no interest, and I have used it on some items (e.g. Wish List items asking for native Mac apps) but in this case it was meant to be 3.

I could have made an error, or could it have been caused by the PHP warning I mentioned in my previous post?

Wish List error

I have just voted on two new Wish List items and in both cases this error appeared at the top of the page: [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/taubmano/fhug.org.uk/wishlist/classes/core.dbfunctions.php on line 268: Trying to access array offset on value of type null My vote was recorded, though...

I don't think that is 'normal'. I'm using Edge on multiple machines and none of them save graphics files as jfif. Maybe an app has changed settings.

Please forgive me if this post is stupid - I'm currently suffering from COVID and it is definitely affecting my thought processes.

Might this issue be related to "smart quotes" in Windows?

Re: First unread post - not working

It's working for me. What happens if you click the icon to the left of the topic name on the unread posts page? I didn't realise that icon worked that way - very nice to know. And, yes it takes me to the first unread post. I'll have to wait until there are some more new posts to recheck the "F...

First unread post - not working

Has anyone noticed that the "First unread post" on a thread is not working? From the home page I select "All unread posts" so as to see what's new. Then I select a thread and on the thread I select "First unread post". This is particularly useful on long threads. Today,...

I've received 2 copies again about 6 minutes apart.

It doesn't really matter to me, but if FHUG is paying on a "per email" basis it could be a waste of money.

I lived in Canada (Nova Scotia) for a while. I once described Canadians as "partially metricated Americans". That did not go down well! I did leave on good terms, though. I wasn't thrown out.

You should thank your lucky stars that you are not tracing family in New South Wales. Hi All,

I haven't forgotten about working on this task, but with Christmas, visitors, work and my elderly mother having a fall, it has not been a high priority. Mum is improving and the visitors have gone so I'll get back to it in a couple of weeks.

Glenn, Try playing with colour settings, you can select different colours for selected and unselected tabs etc. There is an aweful lot you can customise this way. You don’t have to stick to the boring 50 Shades of Grey  I assumed there was a way to change the colours but I couldn't find it qui...

You need to choose Attributes (the tab next to Events) when editing the Fact list to see and add Residence. Thank you! I feel foolish now. It was so simple after I saw your screen shot.
