Family Historian has many powerful features and I have just completed a series of videos on the media possibilities.

What is the result in FH Media List when you select the 'New/Unlinked' drop-down? I'm not sure how the list is ordered if it is ordered but FWIW I only received one copy and my email begins 'VY' Have you seen multiple copies in the past (i.e. when we've posted to say we've seen multiple)? I can see the benefit on Diagrams and maybe also Focus Window but used the simple drag to Named List and delete from method described earlier on Records Window.

There is a Broken Links filter which sounds like that is what you are looking for.
