Re: All media files listed twice

Mike and Lorna have given you the fix required, I guess these got restored by Acronis. Another was to segregate them without sorting is to select the New/Unlinked Media selection from the media filter and just move all those to the Named List before deleting. There are methods for reconciling media ...

Re: All media files listed twice

I will also await your reply as I would like to understand this duplication. Adding the same media file twice should no longer create a duplicate entry as this was resolved in update 7.0.17.1, see below. Regardless you could hardly have did that ~8000 times. "If you add a picture or other media...

I also have to ask the same question as it does for me?

Oh, BTW, Rootsmagic does not have the ability to report either relationship

Re: Have CP Stopped Developing/Updating FH7?

I've been travelling so late to the party but wanted to chime in with a few comments and experiences. I was contacted by them ages ago (couple of years) and told they were working on a problem I was having with How Related and that issue still exists. Genesnipper, I have read various similar feedbac...

Re: Moving Media from one list to another

Roger,

How are your lists defined, are they just different folders on your hard drive?

Family Historian will filter by Individual, Event, Source, Citation, Family and Place from memory depending on where the media is linked. You can also filter by Keywords if you have entered them.

Re: Completing location and address in facts

At the risk of asking a research question in a way that looks like a non-research one. Could I ask how one handles recording the location of something like a marriage, for which the certificate often only states "Parish Church" in a Parish and Registration District? Some Parishes seemed t...

Thank you Gary, that will help others. I'm not in UK at present but you have reminded and jogged my memory I should revisit the Meta data area in a short video. Before travel season hit there was some difficulty experienced on a Zoom meeting one night, Tags not coming across for some reason iirc. Re...

Thanks for the clarification Mike, I misinterpreted "overlapping" I also agree with the right to left approach recommended by you and seconded by GaryG. I see no reason for not discovering the data regarding where a specific location is through research. Geocoding further defines this and ...

You will find no end of discussions on the subject of place formatting in the archives; I would suggest having a read through those and deciding which suits you best, because there is no right-or-wrong solution. The advice above is sound and you will received and read many conflicting opinions and ...

Re: For citation nerds

From what I know I would guess we are at opposite ends of the detailing spectrum. For me Book, Page, Repositor y are almost enough. In the case of a book I may well add Author(s) and maybe ISBN but that's about it, I don't need more. Don't forget I'm essentially a Lumper. In the case of Census recor...

Re: For citation nerds

Thanks Gary, Thirty years ago Sourcing was far from a priority resulting in scant and sometimes just missing detail. I have a project I have not yet started to parse what I can from my data into some standard format. The project is not on the priority list and I have not yet settled on a template fo...

Firstly let me declare I am not a Source/Citation nerd however I would like to remodel my old sources to a more acceptable format. I want the data to direct me back to the original record and hold an image where available, no more complicated than that. I remember many of the Evidence Explained mode...

What is the result in FH Media List when you select the 'New/Unlinked' drop-down? I'm not sure how the list is ordered if it is ordered but FWIW I only received one copy and my email begins 'VY' Have you seen multiple copies in the past (i.e. when we've posted to say we've seen multiple)? NO, not in memory. How does your email begin and where do you stack in the duplicate counts?

Re: Individuals name filter suggestion

If case sensitivity was an option and was enabled then: G%E%HAY% will NOT find Gordon Edward Hay or George Edmund Hays because HAY does not match. G%E%Hay% would work as long as the names did each start with upper-case letters. Firstly, let met me clarify the question above and confirm the competit...

Re: Individuals name filter suggestion

Mike, as with any wildcarding there needs to a bit of thought and possible experimentation from the user to achieve broad or precise results. All I can say is I use this to very good effect in a competitor program in a single field entry , not two or more fields as currently in FH. I have found it v...
