I know and whilst the term "Favourite" is not expressly used the filtering is the essence of this thread and a matter for CP.

Re: Better options for adding plugins to Tools menu
Relative newby so please put down the shotgun :) I can see add to Tools and even Add to Toolbar like any item becoming a problem when taken to extremes. The Plugins I have used are generally periodical and yes the sort order is not ideal when there are many. However would this not be better served w...

Re: Right click options
I maybe should have also added that various competitor packages offer colour coding as a highlight. This is generally a right click option so an expectation. My personal problem with colour highlighting was remembering which colour was which and often overwriting one colour with another so prefer Fl...

Re: Right click options
I'm not clear why adding a Record Flag would register so highly as needing its own option. You can see an example of my workflow in the video at timestamp below. https://youtu.be/kZLRRy9f8_g?si=bcNbdeKaUo3Z82Fe&t=648 I know several migrants of the past few years who attempt to work in a similar...

Re: Right click options
Thank you Mike, I wasn't thinking beyond Individual records which is all my previous software provided, you make a good point. I have several Lists with differing column configurations but my relative 'newby' status expected right click Add Flag at least when I manage the List. Unifying functionalit...

Re: Right click options
It apparent there are many areas where user natural right click options are not uniform in relation to individual records. One such case I have recently discovered is the marked difference between Records entries and Named List entries, see below.

Re: Places changing names/jurisdiction, etc
You just defined it Gary and it is always the same. The difference is what the human finds acceptable in reports often making allowances for the familiarity of the reader. Of course the location of the settlement or community never changes but the description of that area will continue to change thr...

Re: Places changing names/jurisdiction, etc
Been a busy few days but I wanted to throw this on it's head a bit because I don't essentially care how you or any other person records the place data. From a community research perspective the pin in the map is what is important to me . That will give differing results which are likely all accurate...

Re: Places changing names/jurisdiction, etc
Jackson; The RootsMagic gazetteer wasn't all that bad for Canada, but was definitely better for the U.S.A. Outside North America, its value was not quite as good, but better than nothing. Sure wish there was something available that CP could leverage for Family Historian. Gary, Two main reasons I d...

Re: Places changing names/jurisdiction, etc
For instance does Ireland need 4 or 5 parts to its rural placenames? I'm very much into cluster geographic research driven genealogy and the Place notation quandry was a long process of consideration. Around 60% of me research is in Ireland and geographic clusters are a very important indicator for...

Re: Places changing names/jurisdiction, etc
It doesn't sound pedantic, it sounds like striving for accuracy, which is a good thing. Personally I don't find Liverpool, Merside any more accurate than Liverpool, Lancashire or Liverpool, England for that matter. I would expect the new boundary was assisted by natural topographical features like ...

Re: Places changing names/jurisdiction, etc
Merseyside (/ˈmɜːrzisaɪd/ MUR-zee-syde) is a ceremonial and metropolitan county in North West England. It borders Lancashire to the north, Greater Manchester to the east, Cheshire to the south, the Welsh county of Flintshire across the Dee Estuary to the southwest, and the Irish Sea to the west. Th...

My lengthy previous did not post, hate phones :D Mike has given you what you need, after that it is personal choice. Basically I opt for the historical place which is still valid today where the reverse is not true. I'm not terribly familiar with Liverpool but I would hope and believe it is still in...

Re: All media files listed twice
Mike and Lorna have given you the fix required, I guess these got restored by Acronis. Another was to segregate them without sorting is to select the New/Unlinked Media selection from the media filter and just move all those to the Named List before deleting. There are methods for reconciling media ...

Re: All media files listed twice
I will also await your reply as I would like to understand this duplication. Adding the same media file twice should no longer create a duplicate entry as this was resolved in update 7.0.17.1, see below. Regardless you could hardly have did that ~8000 times. "If you add a picture or other media...

Re: Moving Media from one list to another
Roger,
How are your lists defined, are they just different folders on your hard drive?
Family Historian will filter by Individual, Event, Source, Citation, Family and Place from memory depending on where the media is linked. You can also filter by Keywords if you have entered them.
