Hi Helen
Many thanks: That greatly improved the situation: I have still had a couple of crashes, but only after the programme had been open a long time doing nothing but diagrams.

Re: Crashing Diagrams
Hi Helen
Thanks for the tip: I was on 7.0.3 and have now upgraded to 7.0.5. I will hopefully have time to try some diagrams later today.

Crashing Diagrams
Hi I have a problem in FH7 with Diagrams crashing on my (one and only) project. It started happening on a previous computer in FH7 but has recurred on a new install in new computer. I get a warning as the screen blurs when I move the diagram, and programme then closes with no dialog boxes/error mess...

Re: abbreviation of circa
Hi Mike
Using your expression worked brilliantly and easy to adapt to death & marriage. Many thanks indeed.

abbreviation of circa
Hi
I would like to change the abbreviation of circa from "c. " to "c" in my diagrams Is there any way of removing both the fullstop and the space?

Re: Save changes to existing Diagram in v7
Many thanks for the confirmation: it will just have to be the long way round. Family Historian places its emphasis on the GEDCOM quite rightly, but it would be good to have more functionality in the Charts, particularly an undo/redo option and a way of unhiding individual hidden boxes: at present if...

Save changes to existing Diagram in v7
I am having trouble saving changes to existing charts: in v6 there was an option under the Diagram Tab to "save diagram", but it has disappeared in v7. The only way I can see of saving changes is to close the chart, (at which point I am asked if I want to save changes to it) or save it und...

Re: Plugin to identify surname
Hi Mike That worked very well: I used the version with the variable numbers and managed to adapt it to find 10th, 11th etc by adding an extra %d. I tried to adapt it for longer names, but without success. That is the bulk of the work done now, and I think the variation and complexity of the patterns...

Re: Plugin to identify surname
Hi Again Mike That is going quite well, but I am having trouble adapting the pattern to recognise other values than "of". I thought if I just substituted "1st" for "of" the search would find all those with names such as "William Buchanan 1st of /Ardoch/" and c...

Re: Plugin to identify surname
Hi Mike That's working brilliantly thank you, and I can customise it for variations such as "3rd of Ardoch" by replacing "of" with "3rd". The only problem I have is where people have two "of"s in their name such as "Patrick·Colquhoun·of·Barrowfield·4th·of...

Re: Plugin to identify surname
Thanks Jane
I've used that plugin for some straightforward tasks but not familiar with lua patterns. I've had a quick look at the Help on them and can see how they could identify "of" but not sure how I could then use that to shift surname slashes.

Plugin to identify surname
Hi I have a Scottish tree on which 2350 people are designated "of soandso" , for example Buchanan of Ardoch. My problem is that having entered these in the general Name field, they show up in a surname search as Ardoch rather than Buchanan. This will be a problem when I put the tree online...

Re: Apply source citation to existing data
Hi Jane & Tatewise Thanks for your replies and suggestions: very helpful. I appreciate your comments re its limited use: it might be better as "Information supplied by immediate family member" to make it a bit more worthwhile. I will try to learn writing a plugin: occasionally I forget...

Apply source citation to existing data
I have a tree created using data supplied direct by family members, to which I didn't give source citations. I would now like to give the source record "Information supplied by Family Member" citation to all this data but it will be a very long job doing it individually, even with Copy Pan...
