Re: Exclude from Reports flag.

I hadn't thought too much about the rules it was the inconsistency that bothered me. I had thought of _EXCL ALL where the image is used in an INDI and _ EXCL DGM where the image is used in a SOUR (even though as you say the diagram exclusion is irrelevant here). I have never bothered previously prod...

Re: Exclude from Reports flag.

Thanks Mike. My usage of these flags has been somewhat inconsistent and I am going to tidy them all up. I had hoped to just to use text replacement in Notepad++, but the way it is implemented stops me doing that as it is impossible to easily discriminate between Individual and Source usage of the im...

Exclude from Reports flag.

Where are the 'Exclude from Reports' and 'Exclude from Diagrams' flags when relating to an image referenced in an individual or source record stored in the GED file? I would have thought they are stored in the source or individual structure but I cannot find them. I ask because I wish to globally mo...

Re: Recording Census.

Thanks for that.
I had naively assumed 'occupation' meant your job and not where you lived.

Re: Recording Census.

Helen, are you implying that in an Electoral Register, an 'R' qualification means that person lived at the specified address, but an 'O' or 'HO' qualification does not imply that they lived at the specified address? (1920's register) As an aside, does anyone know why, in Electoral Registers from the...

Recording Census.

I just wondered how most people record information from a Census/Electoral Roll source. Do you create a Census/Electoral Roll event or do you record Residence/Place, Occupation attributes etc? Or do you do both? This is independent of whether you use Ancestral sources or not.

Re: 2007-2019 births

Thanks,
so if I understand this correctly, there are the indexes as used by FreeBMD and Ancestry etc., the actual certificates and then the GRO have a database with the full names on.

Where is it getting the middle names from, when only the initial is recorded on the registration?

Deceased Online Records.

There seems to be useful death and burial/cremation information on deceased online website. I do not want to subscribe to this site for the certificactes. I was wondering what the records it is using are so that I can create a FH source. The website says 'The Burial Register Scan or Cremation Regist...

Remini

Have people seen the 'Remini ' app which cleans up old photgraphs. It will apparently clean up 3 photographs free per day. It makes faces look quite clear.

Scottish Records

How do users identify the BMD records from the Scotland's People Website. They are not actual BMD certiificates but they are more than just the GRO index from the England and Wales record?

In a shipping list but not a migration.

How do people record, if at all, when an individual appears on a ship's passenger list, but it for work or holiday, not a migration?

Re: One Drive

Thanks Mike.
So once you have copied your files into /documents/onedrive and FH is pointing there you could, if you want, delete the original folder as in effect this is now just a backup on your local drive.

Your working version would now be /documents/onedrive (on any synchronised pc).

I am confused about One Drive. In https://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=fhugdownloads:contents:microsoft_skydrive#utility_microsoft_onedrive_skydrive it states: a) Use Windows/File Explorer to move your Family Historian Projects folder into the OneDrive folder created in Documents (My Documents) ...

Re: Compatibility to V2.1.8

Thanks Mike,

I do have two licenses as I bought a stand alone v6 when I upgraded. However I was not aware of the read only v3. So thanks for that. I shall give it a go and see what problems I encounter.

Re: Compatibility to V2.1.8

Thank You both, I have tried the Ansi and it works. I am aware that certain features will not work but will try the 'Export Gedcom File Plugin'. I am also interested in absolute v relative paths for media files as V2.1.8 does not support projects. This is to give a relative my old disk to view my tr...

Compatibility to V2.1.8

Is it possible to view a gedcom file generated by FH 6.2.7 in FH 2.1.8 When I try to open the file in 2.1.8 I get an error dialog indicating that 'the file is not in gedcom format'.
I note there are various export options, would one of these do it?
