You have my support too.
I use source templates and think this would be a great asset.

Re: How to generate a list of ALL names
This will return the first name - %INDI.NAME[1]% This will return the second name - %INDI.NAME[2]% and so on By first name I don't mean a persons given names, I mean [1] will find their usual name shown in the property box and [2] will find their first Alternate Name you have entered using the +More...

Wish List Search
I am seeing SQL errors when I try to search the Wish List. Can anyone else confirm this? You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near '[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/taubmano/fhug.org.uk/wishl...' at...

Re: Labelled Note Meta-Fields
Take a look at the =GetLabelledText function. It can be used in filter lines of a query to look inside notes and pick out the data stored meta fields. https://www.family-historian.co.uk/help/fh7/hh_start.htm#function_getlabelledtext.html It would search for a meta field called "Minister:" ...

Re: AS death and burial input screens.. edit?
You could create custom facts within FH for each of the data items you want to capture. You could also customise the property box to include your new facts in the Main tab or even in a new tab, perhaps creating a data entry form to mirror the death certificates you have. However I do not think it is...

Re: example queries for customising records tabs?
Perhaps the question is not about creating queries but saving and loading custom layouts as queries.

Not that I can think of but perhaps a clipboard manager would help speed up the copy/paste process a little.

Re: Ancestral Sources v7.8.4 Beta Testing (November 2023)
Nick The initial capital letter issue in the Place field is now working properly. The previous ID is retained in the Find ID box, although it doesn't quite work as you describe. It doesn't highlight when the cursor enters the box but does highlight when double clicked. Still fine by me as long as th...

Re: Research Notes Improvements
I didn’t start with FH until V6 then upgraded to V7. I previously held my research notes in Evernote but hoped to integrate my research planning into FH when I heard of the new facilities being introduced. I am still struggling to see how I can properly make it work and suspect most users previous t...

Research Notes Improvements
I may occasionally create a Research Note from the records window but in general most of my research thoughts will be had when I am working on an individual in their property box. The process of actually creating a Research Note is rather convoluted requiring 5 mouse clicks: Add Note > Shared Resear...

Re: Ancestral Sources v7.8.3 Beta Testing (November 2023)
Nick Another observation about v7.8.3 The Find ID: field in the top RH corner is being cleared after each save. (It was retained in v7.8.2). I found it useful when the last used ID was retained. If working on a family with close ID numbers it would only need a quick edit to find the next person in m...

Re: Ancestral Sources v7.8.3 Beta Testing (November 2023)
Nick I have noticed a small problem in v7.8.3. Using the Census entry screen - begin typing in the Place field in lower case and AS fetches the potential place names as I type however the Initial capital letter is lost, with the start of the place name now showing in lower case, with the remaining c...

I agree it can be difficult.
The key is to find the name of their ship, often shown on military records or the CWGC website.

Re: "Non-geographic" place
Why not go one stage further and actually map the location of those who died at sea. I have several individuals on record who died at sea in the Royal navy or Merchant Navy. I looked up the story behind the loss of their ship on various websites such as https://uboat.net/ and https://wrecksite.eu/Wr...

Re: How to document DNA connections with FHv7
I created a custom DNA fact and recorded the detail (Individual, cM, Common Ancestor, Ancestry user name, and Ancestry link) as pseudo fields in the Note field of the custom fact. I don't have FH close by at the moment but think I used the GetLabelledText function to extract the details into a repor...

Re: Adding Relationship to Root to the Properties Box
I don't think it is possible but you can show the relationship in the Caption field above the Property Box with something like this
%INDI% - =Relationship(FileRoot())
See this post for a fuller explanation https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 090#p69090

Re: printing
