Re: Essentials Templates Advice

I do indeed clone and edit some of the Essentials templates. The flexibility of the template editor is one of the big advantages of FH. Like Gary, I work with a modified Strathclyde style, taking into account also some of the elements illustrated by Mcdonald in his book. Whenever a new Referencing G...

Thanks, John - I made that change (though chose Residence, rather than Custom Fact)...Will give that a go and see if I like it.

Eventually I'll get to know all the ins and outs of this process.

Hi Nick, Yes, it's the Fact created I would like to change so it doesn't appear in the Property Box as a Census. Feeling a bit dim, here, but where would I do that? All I see is the option for Census and can't figure out in the code to do anything at all with Electoral Registers. ElectoralRegisterTe...

Electoral Register Settings...

First, I did go to the KB this time, but what I found there didn't match what I'm seeing on my screen. I'd like to set up the Electoral Register option to appear as such in FH, instead of as Census and though I tried to follow the KB instructions, it's not working. I get as for as Tools>Options>Gene...

Re: Copying on 1921 Census

I do the same as Chris - if you use a Windows computer, Ctrl-Shift-v is the keyboard shortcut to paste as plain text. When I copy from a web page (FMP mostly) I tend to use Copy as Plain Text (not sure now if thats from a copy paste addon). The reason being it avoids copying some invisible formating...

Hi Rosina, I had similar issues to you. Nick very kindly provided a typed AS workflow https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=21046&p=129140#p128788 for me and it helped immensely. When you're ready, have a look. Alongside the videos, I hope it will help you as much as it helped m...

Jenny and Andy at CiteBuilder have added their versions of EE 4th ed templates to their site and they're not behind the paywall. https://cite-builder.com/basic/# . Just click on the first option. I haven't tried any yet, but at least it's good to get an idea. Great they made it available for everyon...

Re: Generate an exportable list of Source Templates

Good idea to copy into a separate collection. Thanks for the suggestion! But, no, not importing to a new project, though I may end up creating a new one after cleaning up my templates. <SNIP> I copy all of my 'settled' source templates into a separate collection with a different name. Generate an exportable list of Source Templates

I would like to export a list of my Source Templates as sorted by Update date. I know how to view the list, but can't figure out how to export it - is there a way? Why would I like to do this? Yes, I read through that post. Looks like the 4th edition marks a bit of a shift. Curious to see if any bookseller in the UK other than Amazon (which I boycott) will have the book for sale. Re: Handling identical source names

Exactly - it's a great resource. I don't recall having to give my mailing address when I registered, but it was years ago now, so perhaps that's why. In the end, it was worth it to have the valuable information the index contains and given that I knew I'd be ordering certificates, they were going to...

Thanks, Lorna - I edited as below, plus the sentence. Really appreciate the help! You are not doing anything wrong. It is shown as a census because AS uses the census fact type.
