Unhandled exception error - switching between images

HI, I just got an unhandled exception error running AS from FH. I had just selected an individual and load two census images and was switching between the two. I have done the same before with no problems, so this is an unusual event. Unhandled Exception.jpg The full error text is as follows:- See t...

Re: 1939 Register - finding an enumeration district

I have done an address search on Find My Past, shows E.D. Letter Code as DPOJ Reg district 178-2. Any help? I searched for Anstee in Luton MB only.

I signed up to this list quite recently, received one digest and then this message. Did not look like spam, but an admin issue.

I signed up recently. I received one digest, and the message under discussion. It didn't seem to be spam, I wondered if the admin had retired?

Re: Sorting Source Citations

Thank you Ann, Jane and Mike for your replies. You seem to be talking about the order of the Citations for the Birth fact in your screenshot. Yes that is correct, my Subject heading indicated that but the body of the text did not. Sorry for that. You can use the up/down arrows top right to change th...

Sorting Source Citations

I am currently converting from Method 2 to Method 1 for recording my census findings using Ancestral Sources . Sources showing order.jpg This screenshot shows the order of the sources after splitting. I would like to sort these as it looks untidy to me as they are. Tools/Re-order Out-of-sequence Dat...

Re: Property Box - Occupation

I haven't managed to do that; but I have removed the occupation from the main tab completely by clicking on the down arrow next to the cog and selecting Customise Data Entry . I removed Sex and Occupation and added Sex . That way the Main Tab shows the mainly constant information. The occupation(s) ...

Theres a handy tool for checking path lengths here: https://github.com/deadlydog/PathLengthChecker/releases (I've just redownloaded it and checked it - no nasties). Download the "Path.Length.Checker.v1.1.1.zip" file That's a handy tool, path lengths for my Family Historian Projects from 7...

Don't forget that big commercial sites may offer free trials (remember to cancel before the end of the trial); also look out for special offers. The Genealogist currently offers a cashback in it's ad on "Family Tree". Email me direct if you want the discount code. I just checked out the An...

Re: Recording a negative

I use some Custom Facts defined as attributes with all fields ticked in working with facts dialog (except Address which I don't use). They are Not Found meaning I haven't found an entry, Possible meaning a possible entry and Missing meaning the anticipated record is missing. There are individual and...

Re: Rearrange Column Headings in Where Used Record Link plugin

Many thanks Mike, have managed to change column order to suit my need. Have been using this plugin while converting Method 2 census entries to Method 1. Making a few discoveries as I work through, especially with items I recorded many years ago.

Rearrange Column Headings in Where Used Record Link plugin

I would like to move the Where within Source column leftwards. I tried copying the Plugin and renaming before amending the code but when I tried to install the amended Plugin it got the message already installed.

How should I go about this please?

Re: Name Problems

Use IsNull()
Eg
while ptrWork:IsNull() do
code
End

Null is a special value comparison to which always produces Null. It's not 0, nil, or an empty string.

Re: Alternative Surnames

This looks like a useful technique for handling people in the 1939 Register who are part of a household but whose records are redacted. Naming them as /[head of household surname]/ helps to identify where they belong. (They are also associated by the Method 1 source citation created by AS.)

Which pdf reader?

I have been using Microsoft Reader to open pdfs, this has now been unilaterally discontinued by Microsoft and replaced with MS Edge. I am looking for alternatives.

Does anyone on the Forum use pdf readers they would recommend?

Point taken Mike, will look at the indexing thread. The dynamism of this forum is one of the things that attracted me to FH. I do recognise that an awful lot of voluntary work has, and is, going into it. I am grateful for that.
