Re: Is there a setting to add the dob-dod to Ancestors reports?

Oh, OK, that's a shame.
But, again, thank you for letting me know before I spend any more time searching fruitlessly!
Much appreciated.

Is there a setting to add the dob-dod to Ancestors reports?

I have looked everywhere among the Book settings, but can find no setting for the date of birth and date of death to be automatically stated next to an individual. Currently it looks as follows: "Joseph TYZACK, son of John TYZACK, was born in 1847. He married Mary WARRINGTON on 21 July 1871 in ...

Re: Ancestors by Generation Narrative: exclude spouse and children for the focus person

ah, OK, thanks! Not being *able* to change it certainly takes away the stress of trying to do so :-) Thanks for your help - and I much appreciate you sending it this evening as I would have been burning the midnight oil (yet again) as I finally, three years later, get ready to send my report to my w...

Re: Ancestors by Generation Narrative: exclude spouse and children for the focus person

Have just tried the RTF option, but unfortunately it doesn't look too good and the photos are not aligned with the individuals.... So, back to plan B (or is it plan T?!) and manually editing the underlying data in the document. But what I can't see is how I can change the text when it says for a cou...

Re: Ancestors by Generation Narrative: exclude spouse and children for the focus person

Thanks to you too Tatewise. Your message slipped in whilst I was implementing/trying out Lorna's suggestions and discovering what you rightly say about "settings apply to all generations and not just those of the focus/root person. There are no other settings that would only apply to the focus/...

Re: Ancestors by Generation Narrative: exclude spouse and children for the focus person

Many thanks Lorna, I really appreciate that; unchecking "Child Events/Attributes" worked a treat - thank you. The "record id" is indeed unchecked but still seems to list everyone with a number (1,2,3,4,5,6 etc); it's not a big deal but seems a bit pointless. Thanks again for your...

Ancestors by Generation Narrative: exclude spouse and children for the focus person

Hello Does anyone know how I can NOT include the spouse and children of a person when I run their "Ancestors by Generation Narrative"? What I'd like to do is just have the person and then their ancestors - main reason being they had a lot of children for whom I have input a lot of informat...

Re: Can I join together Individual Summary Reports into one?

Many thanks Tatewise. And I did have a look at Ancestor Outline but it's a bit too squashed up, I feel. I think I'll stick with the "Ancestor by Generation Narrative" report. The thing I don't like about it is when it repeats information - eg "In 1976 she lived in Bath. In 1981 she li...

I have now found Publish > Publishing Tools Finder which is looking optimistic! (I had been looking further down that menu).
Not sure whether I've got there yet, but many thanks for your help.

Re: Can I join together Individual Summary Reports into one?

Ah, I've just found the View > Queries and I'm wondering if you mean I should create a report from there... I wish there was someone I could pay to help me with all this. I did ask about that a couple of years ago, but didn't get any where. Surely there must be someone who would do all this for me i...

Thanks @ColeValleyGirl. I did that and it just created a long list of individual reports rather than joining them all together the way that Ancestors By Generation Narrative does....

Can I join together Individual Summary Reports into one?

Hello all After years of entering data into Family Historian, I now want to get it out! I like the Individual Summary Reports but would rather avoid having individual ones for each ancestor. But I don't see any way of creating a summary report which covers the selected individual and their ancestors...

Re: How do I include all relevant photos in a book

The moral of this thread is that if you believe you are not alone in expecting a requirement, then FH probably has the options needed, so perhaps inspect what is on offer with a little more diligence. I approach most products that way; assuming that a widely used product will cater for the vast maj...

Re: How do I include all relevant photos in a book

Clint, I'm sorry you feel like that, but on that Pictures tab where you increased the Max Pics values did you inspect any of the other picture options or click the Help button for advice? The Picture Location default usually is To the Right of the Text which will produce a vertical column against t...

Re: How do I include all relevant photos in a book

Hi again So, I have done what was suggested (ie increased the Max Pics) and what I get is pages of whiteness with a strip of photos to the right, underneath each of which is a description of the photo (name of the person, date, age etc). It is not very effective! And is it really the best I can get ...

Re: How do I include all relevant photos in a book

Clint, back in June it was recommended in 15093|Anecdotes/biographical information that you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and you promised to do so. That is the 'walk through' and it is free. You also need to follow other links into our [kb]|[/kb] for advice o...

Do you know if I can pay someone to walk me through all this at all, because it is possibly the most complex software I've ever used and I include Microsoft Word/Excel and PPT in that statement!
Thanks

Re: How do I include all relevant photos in a book

The number of pictures can also be adjusted via the Settings button at the bottom of the Current Book Items list. However it is generally easier to experiment with adjustments to the report type first. You can create as many different variations as you like, with different names, and all will be av...

How do I include all relevant photos in a book

Hello I've searched the forums but can't find an answer, so wondering of anyone can help me here, please. Re: "Ancestors by Generation" - NOT in narrative form?

I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of narrative reports - but that's just my personal preference. Have you looked under the Miscellaneous reports group? Publish > Miscellaneous Reports > Individual Summary Report (for Web, CD or DVD) . I have customised this for my own individual reports, alon...

Re: "Ancestors by Generation" - NOT in narrative form?

Thanks Mike - and please can you get on a train to London and show me how right now! :-) Re outline reports, I just prefer the structure of the narrative reports, but would like them to be in less stilted language. But also, I am trying to produce books for the whole family - to include an introduct...

Re: "Ancestors by Generation" - NOT in narrative form?

Thanks Lorna, I find the "Outline" version not quite what I'm looking for either. I seem to remember seeing reports that simply listed the occupations and residences rather than putting them in narrative form, but I can't find them now. Whilst I know they are a bit cold, I find the narrati...
