Thank you for the pointer which worked perfectly. Not a function I have used before.
Much appreciated.

Standard Place Name formatting
I have popluated Standard Place names in the same way that I have for Places with commas dividing the same segments. In the sentence format is there anyway to replicate the removal of unused commas as _place does? My sentence template is :- <para>{individual} appeared in the census taken on< {%FACT....

Search and Replace Plugin fault
I think the latest version of this extremely useful plugin has a fault. See the attached image which is self explanatory. The in-built Find and Replace worked perfectly for this though.

Re: Is including married names advised?
I always record the married name as an alternative name. This is for two reasons, firstly, we did this when we were using TMG so they were imported in, and secondly, if I recall correctly there were instances (some time ago) when I missed people in queries and reports. As Mike says you have to use S...

Re: GRO Digital Images now available
A grey box has started to appear for some searchs (see image) and I have recently noticed that I now had the option, see attached. I therefore assumed it was new. I must be dozy and perhaps they are slowly making more images available.

GRO Digital Images now available
I see that GRO are now offering digital images for £2.50, a lot cheaper than ordering pdfs or certificates. A helpful improvement but the caveat is "Not all records are available to view as Digital Images".

Re: England & Wales Probate Calendar images
Like Mark, I generally prefer FMP for probate images, but I flit between FMP and Ancestry for census and BMD index images in order to find the best one for inclusion in reports etc. Ancestrys census images are often better than FMPs but I dislike the way Ancestry colours 1911 census images. No idea ...

Re: Changing Default Colours for website creation
I keep my own css file, index.html and image.jpg in a master folder then after generating an updated website just copy them across to the Packages>Website>Data folder, takes <10 seconds each month. Very simple and then independant of FH updates and under my control.

Re: Citing English Census
Just in case it helps here is a census entry that I have just been entering so you can see how I have chosen to do it. As was mentioned previously English county boundaries have not been static. I do try and record the place as it was at the time. For example upto 31st March 1889 London was literall...

Re: Sentence template formatting
I should have been clearer, this is my sentence template and the point is there is a space in front of {date}, which makes me think there could be a problem in the report itself. I haven't seen this on any other facts in these reports. <para>{%CUR_PRIN.NAME[1]:FIRST%} married {spouse/her/him}<, {=Co...

Interestingly I see a reverse of this regarding marriages in narrative reports, is this a bug that needs reporting to CP?

I agree, I think it is an unneccesary complication. I wonder if Calico Pie consulted any users over this? (rhetorical question)

Re: ver 7.0.17.1 - spurious full stops
Many thanks I hadn't twigged that and it works. Whilst it doesn't take long to update the sentence templates I guess the only way people can update the actual senteces is using Find and Replace {note} with {inline-note}

ver 7.0.17.1 - spurious full stops
Before I report this to Calicoe Pie I was just wondering if other people are seeing something similar. I am now getting full stops inserted after the age field in sentence templates. See attached example which shows no full stop in the template. I am thinking there is an error in the enhancement reg...

Re: Census source code entry
I have a separate source for each census and record the source code as class:RG13 piece:1591 folio:32 page:4 schedule:20 in the Where Within field. I store a template in the Note field of the Source record eg class:RG13 piece: folio: page: schedule: which I just copy and paste to save on typing.

I did this by creating a Custom Fact called Qualification and used the coctruct <para><On {%FACT.DATE:DAY_OF_WEEK%}>< {date}>< at {_place}> {%CUR_PRIN.NAME[1]:FIRST%} received {his/her}< {note}>. I always use the age as given in the source, but if it is quite a bit out I will add a note in the text so I know I have already questioned it. I think it is important to record as given.

Re: Combining .jpg files together
Just out of interest I use Paint to join images and just takes a few seconds. I do it by having both images open in Paint, cropping them to what I want, add additional canvas to the primary image and copy and paste the second image, then just position it.
