Re: Census Witnesses & Sentences

Thanks Mike for your prompt reply. Yes, you are right. If I look at the witnesses for the 1861,1871 and 1881 Censuses, when Margaret is the Head of Household, she is indeed listed also as a Witness. I have deleted the Witness entry in the All tab for the Head however this does not seem to have any i...

Census Witnesses & Sentences

I am having some issues with witnesses and census events. I am aware of previous discussions regarding Fact Witnesses and Witness Roles, Sentence Templates and Witness Sentence Templates and Override Templates for the Facts tab. I understand too that Fact Witnesses is not the recommended method for ...

Re: Export to TMG

Mike, OK, exported using ANSI .. and imported into TMG too. Some fact types, roles, "witness" and media did not travel over well but that was expected and we can live with that, the main thing is that structures and relationships are all there. Thanks for the info about ANSI rather than UTF8 ... tha...

Re: Export to TMG

Hi Mike ... and all the best to you and your family too. We are still suffering from a lot of smoke here and fires everywhere and we are hardly into the really hot time yet in Australia. No doubt there may have been a fair bit of rain where you are ? What climate change ? Yes, I have left TMG ... an...

Export to TMG

A somewhat weird inquiry here. What is the best way to export a small Gedcom file from FH to TMG ? I am having some trouble importing the FH generated 5.5 into TMGUKGold 9.5

Any help, much appreciated.

Re: Where are the Citation Details from TMG

Thanks Helen and Mike, I have no comment to make on the to's and fro's between you here, apart from to say how much I appreciate the collective wisdom. It is especially valuable as the content of the discussion has assisted in my broader understanding of the way FH deals with Facts and Citations. BT...

Re: Where are the Citation Details from TMG

Found it thanks. I just needed a bit more penetration of the layers to discover the text. I found the Citation Details 4 layers down, here :-

Fact
.. Source
.. .. Data
.. .. .. Text From Source which contains the Citation Details.

Thanks for the hint.

Where are the Citation Details from TMG

Folks, I need to edit a Citation Detail that supports a Source imported from TMG. I know that the Citation Detail has arrived into FH, because I can see the Citation Details in a Ancestors by Generation Report. However, I just can't find the Citation Details to make an edit. I can find the Source re...

Re: All Relatives List

Mike, Thanks. I will give that idea a whirl. As for discussing this before in Ancestor and Descendant List Creation (16262) last October, I have been wrestling with it all myself trying to solve it in vain - and eventually came to the Forum for help. The other option I had in mind was the All Relati...

Re: All Relatives List

Sorry Mike, not exactly. I do not want a Report for each of the people. What I am trying to do is create a list of the relatives and their consanguinity. Just a list - with one row per person. If I could get that list (a) into my Book (b) with an entry in the Index - then that is exactly what I am t...

Re: All Relatives List

I have now had a look in more detail at your suggestions. Thank you all very much. I am considering these solutions - although struggling a bit with the queries and expressions. As another option, I have created an All Relatives List using a standard List All Relatives Query. This will actually do m...

Re: All Relatives List

Thank you Mike. This is new territory for me but learning how to do this is all part of working with different software. So, firstly yes, I have moved the goal posts to provide room for an acceptable solution like you have suggested. Secondly, I shall now go away and try this and return when I have ...

Re: All Relatives List

Thanks Mervyn and Jane, Yes, I have been struggling to just make a list of blood relatives using a standard report in a Book and also generate a entry automatically in the Book Index. I understand but had not thought about "pedigree collapse" and implex, possibly because I have not come across the m...

All Relatives List

Folks,

What is the best way to create a list of blood relatives (so excl spouses) for inclusion in a Book using the Publish feature of FH, so that the entries get recorded in the Index.

Any help much appreciated.

Confession: Edit Saved Chart

Mike and Jane, It is 2-00am in the morning here ... I am lying in the pit thinking about all of this and your very kind and learned responses. I suddenly got a cold shudder as I realised what might have happened. Of course, you are right on the money. I got out of bed and tried the investigative mea...

Jane, Thanks ... I am sure we are talking at cross purposes - I am doing something fundamentally wrong. I am looking at my Saved Chart. Assuming the associated relatives are in your FH tree then Tools > How Related does produce such a Diagram . HowRelatedSharedAncestor.png Mike - I have been wondering how to do this. I know how to get the result of a "How Related" question as in the Tools/How Related question. But how do I move fro...

Re: Living Flag

Thanks Mike Tate (and you too Mike Loney),

Very useful. I have solved my problem thanks and also learned a bit more - as I have at last got around to using a Query to set a Flag on the Results if that makes sense.

Living Flag

I have read a lot of previous correspondence in this Forum re Icons, Flags - and the Living Flag in particular. However, I am still unsure about how it works .. if it actually "works" at all. I have just entered a Death Date for Person X. Surely, if there is a Death Fact, a Burial Place or a Probate...
