Thank you Mike

Latest Plugins are not downloading

Hi All

When I run the plugin to check installed plugin against the store - if a newer version is found and I choose to download it for some reason it fails. Please see image attached. This has happened a few times now and between sessions on my laptop.

Any ideas welcome.

Re: Backup Message - Progress Dialog Not Responding

Hi Mike

I cleared the cache and allowed it to rebuild - it seems to have solved that error message. Thanks for your help.

Re: Backup Message - Progress Dialog Not Responding

Hi Mike

The backup restores okay. Would it help to delate the Thumbcache and have it rebuild?

Backup Message - Progress Dialog Not Responding

Hi Forum When running the Full Backup option the Backup progress dialogue box opens but then I momentarily see the message in the Box Header = Progress Dialogue Not Responding. The Backup progress box then disappears from view and runs in the background. Clicking the screen brings it back to life. T...

Re: Rename Selected Media Files

Thank you Mike.

I will try the revised plugin - I'm not sure I have any of the scenarios mentioned though.

Re: Media Display Sort Sequence

Thanks David - That link helped me find the solution. Basically don't date the media if already dated in the source. Then the Pref # has control over the displayed sequence.

Thank you both.

Re: Media Display Sort Sequence

Hi Mike

Sorry for the confusion. I used the date Q2 1956 purely to illustrate the differing dates are then sorted in some 'date' order. The Pref # is ignored.

Thank you for the answer.

Media Display Sort Sequence

Hi Forum In the Source > Media display window. Is it possible to always sequence the display of media files strictly by Preferred #? I see when I have images with differing media dates the date sort value overrides the Preferred # sort order upon opening the screen. See screen shot - where Pref # = ...

Re: Rename Selected Media Files

Hi Mike

Early tests shows it is absolutely spot on. I'll make more extensive tests tomorrow, but what a time saver, thank you so much.

Re: Rename Selected Media Files

Thanks Mike/Bill

The search and replace plugin worked a treat for renaming the unique part of the Source and Media links. I see Bill has offered up a Windows File rename solution. Thanks Bill, I'll check this out.

Re: Rename Selected Media Files

Thank you Mike

Yes - I did wonder if the Search and Replace might handle it but then as you say the Media files themselves would need attention. I guess your suggestion would handle the bulk of the task if I were to verify each update. I'll take a full backup of course and try it out.

Many thanks.

Rename Selected Media Files

Dear Jane/Forum Looking at your Plugin (Rename Selected Media Files) would it be possible to change the plugin to work from the Source Record Title instead of the Media Record? I have a large number of Baptism records whereby the Source record would read something like: Baptism Bishops Cleeve, Glouc...

@Helen

My test worked fine - I'll add the appropriate 'aka' to make the distinction.

Thanks once again.

Thanks but I'm lost when it comes to stylised formats - they are probably very smart and useful but beyond my level of understanding.

Re: Source Records and Individual Naming Convention

Hi Helen I'm going through the setup changes required in AS to handle your approach. Do you see any issue in having the Method 1 Main Source Template mapped to use the {OTHER} field whereby the Actual Name used is then used in the Source Template and the Short Title to use {KEYPERSON} That way I get...

Re: Source Records and Individual Naming Convention

Thank you Helen and Mike. I see another clean up on the horizon  But always justified and worth it. I'll try Helen's approach to begin with as I would like this handled by AS and as simple as possible. Mike your method looks detailed and I'm sure a very good solution but somewhat daunting for s...

Source Records and Individual Naming Convention

Hi Forum. This is not an AS question... I use AS for practically all Vital Source entries. AS will append the FH database name of the individual to the Source record. I appreciate this question could be seen as personal choice - but from a purist point of view should the Source record carry the expl...

Re: Rethink of Sources and how to use them.

Although I will continue to include both Certificate and Index as images where I have the Birth Certificate created as a Source. Like you say pers...

Rethink of Sources and how to use them.

Hi Forum Sometime ago I asked a question about post 1837 GRO Indexes and the related Full Birth Certificate - in that are they supportive of a single Birth Source or should they be separate Source records? The response was very good - thanks once again; and I went down the path of having one Birth S...
