AS Font query

Although I've edited my automatically generated text to line up in AS, I generally need to re-edit in FH7. Examples below show the text in AS and then the text after it's arrived in FH7 I'm not using Rich Text Support. What settings are needed in AS to ensure lines up in FH7 without needing to be re...

Re: Ghosts in the All Relatives Diagram

Lorna, many thanks! I've taken the option to remove the proxy boxes, but note that there's still a dotted line. Is there an option to remove that as well?

Ghosts in the All Relatives Diagram

I've noticed some 'ghost entries' in the All Relatives Diagram. At first I thought I'd corrupted my database so I was quite relieved to see the same issue in the demonstration database as can be seen in the below image in which Charles William Smith Munro is duplicated. I'm using 7.0.3 Any idea what...

Re: How to apply a different template on a source citation

Peter, thanks for the clear explanation. I did a quick test and it seems to do what's needed, leaving "Text from Source", "Notes" and "Media" information intact.

Re: How to apply a different template on a source citation

Helen, thanks - I see it.

Peter, could you kindly clarify what you mean by "delete the template field from the source record" Is this from the Sources tab? Currently, "Add template" is greyed out and not selectable?

Re: How to apply a different template on a source citation

thanks Helen, but is that the right link? The discussion there is about importing RootsMagic todo lists, and unless I'm missing something, not related to moving a citation from one template to another?

How to apply a different template on a source citation

I've created a citation using the "Advanced | Church Records | Image Copies | Digitized Online" template but the footnote generated from this template isn't quite as I want it. Is it possible to change it to use a different template eg. "Advanced | Church Records | Derivatives | Church Records Datab...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

thank you, Helen. Earlier in this thread you stated that you "used to put the whole EE-style citation in the Source Title in V6" Do you now use templates? Do you know of a way to use a template for a layered citation? There are many examples at evidenceexplained.com eg. quicklesson 19 at https://www...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

Mike, please can you clarify why you suggest "In Tools > Preferences > Sources > Generic Source Formats... customize the Footnote, Short Footnote and Bibliography Format to {%SOUR.NOTE2%}. "That is all that is necessary." That's all that is necessary for what? Thanks to all for your help. Clearly I ...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

Am I a splitter or a lumper? I'm not experienced enough to have a fixed view on this but Ancestral Sources recommends Method 1. I think that's the same as a lumper and it's what I followed when entering records via AS. I then pasted any citation details into AS's notes field. I'd probably not given ...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

thanks for the suggestions and comments. Other programs eg. RootsMagic have a freeform template which presumably inserts the source citations into the right part of the reports and the gedcom file. I wasn't able to find one in FH7 among the Essentials or Advanced templates. Would this be a worthwhil...

thanks Helen. As an example, here's a citation I drafted earlier today. Freeform citation in V7

In the past, I've prepared my own layered citations, trying to follow EE's standard, and pasted them into the source notes. Now I'm using FH7 and am aware that a lot of good work has been done with templates, but, at least to start, I'd like to know what's the correct way to enter those freeform cit...

Re: Best way to index my collection of church register images

As a reminder, I started this thread because I was looking for a tool to help index a collection of images, in particular the parish register screenshots of baptisms, marriages and burials. I'm pleased to say that although it's a bit on the pricey side, iDImager's Photo Supreme works well for me and...

Irfanview certainly has some helpful features and it supports searches for keywords. Thanks again for the suggestion. Re: Best way to index my collection of church register images

thank you, Peter. I should have added that I'd need to be able to find the image easily perhaps with something like a query to find images with a keyword of "churchill" or marriages with keyword of "churchill" or "smith" I'll certainly take a look at Irfanview.

Best way to index my collection of church register images

I've a collection of church register images that I've downloaded during visits to my local Family History centre. Typically they are several hundred, comprising baptisms, marriages and burials for each parish in the area I'm researching. Each parish has its own folder. Many images have names of inte...
