Re: Record window anomaly
John, That’s an extra mouse click :D I only have 6 or 7 priority sources, if I want another source like censuses, I use the filter box at the top, and a shortcut keys to search for specific census entries. This is particularly useful, so I can check if I already have already used the specific census...

Re: Record window anomaly
A point to note, is that the sort order of Source Records displayed in the records window, defines how they are presented when choosing a new or existing source. For example, I normally sort sources by name, using the underscore character as a prefix, to force my more commonly used ones to the top o...

As the hints are indicated in the focus window, I can only assume they only apply to current Project.

Re: 1881,1891,1901 CENSUS BIRTHS DIFFERENT
Was he still alive in 1921? I found that for some reason, people were a bit more specific about their place of Birth. My own Great Grandmother’s birthplace varied over earlier censuses, between Ireland and Co Cork, Ireland. It wasn’t until 1921 that she specified Skibbereen, Co Cork, Ireland. If he ...

Re: Marriage record id
Ron, I doubt it’s an error. That particular ID is produced by FH, just like the Individual Record ID, and is not amendable.
However there is nothing to stop you adding a custom-ID to the marriage

Re: Names not in Navigation Bar but are in Focus Window and Property Box
Miketate, to add further to your answer, I’ve noticed that new individuals when inserted, are not entered into the correct ‘sorted’ or ‘filtered’ position, primarily because the sort or filter was done before the new record existed. One needs to refresh the sort or filter to get them into the correc...

Re: Get a list of people from Project 1 to Project 2
A named list only refers to people within a project, so cannot be moved from one project to another. But, there is nothing to stop you from having two separate trees within the same project. I’m sure someone with more knowledge than me, can advise on how best to move one of your trees from one proje...

Re: Disambiguation of similar individuals
You could use a Custom ID. Give each member of ‘group’ of individuals the same ID. You could then show them (and sort them) in the records window. You are not restricted in what you use for a custom ID, so you could simply use their name. E.g David Getty 1818. You could also create a common note rec...

Re: Adding marriage without a spouse
As I'm not American, and have only seen it written as Jennifer Brown Smith, I would think either of the options you suggest would work, depending how you want them sorted in the Records window
The important bit is knowing to use SMITH when searching for a death, burial or even another marriage.

Re: Adding marriage without a spouse
... particularly for women, the marriage is crucial to the burial record. I assume that you will still record the spouse's name somewhere, perhaps in the note to the marriage event, because as you say it is crucial when looking for a burial record. You could also add the spouse's surname as an Alte...

Re: Using Custom ID Type
I rely on Custom ID’s to identify how indivuals are related. To my direct ancestors, I assign their custom ID as J + their Ahnentafel number relative to my root ( grandsons J oshua and J acob) Then I use each father’s ID, to create each childs ID by adding a suffix to their father’s ID. So one of th...

Re: Query to find family branch members
Dave, I’m working from memory, ( not on PC), so following is the rough idea of what Row expressions you need 1. Add if File root to the Resultset 2. Add if Ancestor of anyone currently in the Resultset. ( Add all direct ancestors of File root) 3. Add if Descendant of anyone in Resultset ( now add a...

Re: Problem with Query using pool number
Mike, I didn't include all the row expressions because apart from 1st expression, they are all exclude statements, so the resultset gets slowly narrowed down, so no chance of adding a rogue Pool with them. Nevertheless, I have taken a snapshot for you to look at. wrong pool ID Rows.jpg As for the Re...

Problem with Query using pool number
I modified an existing query, to exclude anyone not in Pool 1
i.e Exclude Unless RelationPool() equals 1
This has eliminated most of the relevant individuals, but insists on including 3 individuals who are shown as being in Pool 30!:-
Any suggestions?

Importing Place data from one proect to another
Just started a new project for someone, and quickly realised that I have to re-input and geo-code all places from scratch. Does anyone know of a method of exporting places from one project, and importing them to another? If this is possible, would it not be a great idea to have a default set of UK o...
