Re: Register as Event Type in FH

Thank you both.

I don't have a problem now, just a mistaken assumption.

Re: Register as Event Type in FH

This is a (now) typical source record for a Register entry. See line ***** [S3998] Register 1939 Abercarn, Monmouthshire, Wales RG101/7430B/013/16/155 Data Events Recorded: Census Date Period: 29 September 1939 Place: Abercarn, ,Monmouthshire, Wales Title: Register 1939 Abercarn, Monmouthshire, Wale...

Register as Event Type in FH

I have been trying to create a FH query to collect Individuals who appear in censuses.

This worked fine for the 1939 register when AS were calling it a Census, but now it is a Register FH does not seem to recognise 'Register' as a valid Event type - =FactLabel(%FACT%).

Any thoughts?

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

Thank you Adrian.

I have passed on details of my problem to the person who looks after the members websites for the Guild of One-name Studies and he is pursuing it in TNG forums.

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

Thank you Adrian.

It seems an odd system - why would anyone import a new event type unless they wanted to use it?

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

I always tick "Accept data for all new Event Types and attributes"
but not for "Import Custom Event Types and attributes only (no data is added, replaced or appended""

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

Mike - thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction. I went to the TNG Event/Attribute admin section and found that there were 187 types listed of which 125 were set to On Import: Ignore. What I do not understand now is why this has suddenly gone wrong - presumably in one of Darrins up...

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

I am sorry to report that I am having a strange problem with Export Plugin version 5.5.4.

I get the same effect using Min or Max.

All the Principal events are OK, as are the Witness events for witnesses with 2 roles in the same event, but there are no witness events for those with a single role.

Re: Relationship Pool and Fact Witnesses

Thank you Mike.

I have tried to create the fact query you suggest.

The column entries come up automatically but when I try to create the rows with Add if etc, the Add command stays greyed out. See the attached screenshot.

Have I missed something?

Re: Relationship Pool and Fact Witnesses

Mike is partly correct. I use a create pools query to collect the largest pools in my FH database and then transfer all the records (in the pools) to a named list "To be uploaded". I have been able to write a custom query to find all records which have a Witness event and then these are ad...

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

I do not feel that I know enough about FH, or what is possible in the plugin, to make useful comments on Mike's last post.

I suspect I would be happy with any of the alternatives suggested.

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

Thank you Adrian:
You set it in Family Historian. From the top menu, choose View > Special Records > Header Record.
I have now got plugin 5.5.3 working and am very happy with the results.

And thanks to Mike for spending so long on this topic.

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

The reasons that I have not used the Header record Receiving System field are A. I don't know what it means B. I cannot find it in the plug-in settings screen (only Header Submitter 1 on the Other Options tab) I now realise that I was using one family from my main tree uploaded as tree3 to test the ...

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

I have not followed all the details of this thread recently, being happy with version 5.5.2 of the plugin. But I have now tried version 5.5.3 using the same (Min) settings and found that I have lost all my witness-principal hyperlinks. Incidentally, the plugin does not ask me or tell me anything abo...

Relationship Pool and Fact Witnesses

I use the FH RelationPool function when preparing an upload to my TNG website. FH help defines a Pool as people who are directly or indirectly related. Does anyone know if "indirectly related" includes people in a Principal-Witness relationship? Or if it doesn't, could it be actioned, perh...

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

I have not commented on the Family or Spouses point raised by Olivier.

I don't have a strong view ,but Family seems more logical when people have five or six marriages/liaisons in their lifetime.

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

At present I have changed "Witness role" to "Shared event" but I think I agree with Olivier and I will change it to blank. I am not bothered by the ID numbers being shown but would be happy to lose them as long as that did not affect the action of the hyperlink. It would be nice ...

I have just tried the new plug-in using using the Min setting and changing tree1 to tree2 in the output gedcom

It works well, with no problems that I can see.

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

Thank you ColeValleyGirl for putting me straight and apologies to Mike and Olivier for misleading information. Mike's export plug-in is likely to be used for additions and changes to existing trees as well as for populating new trees so I cannot see a way for him to always use an ID like "tree1...

Re: TNG and FH event witnesses standoff

Just to be clear -

TNG refers to "tree1" as an ID and the user cannot choose the ID, it is allocated by TNG when a user asks to create a new tree
