I've recently noticed that this issue is happening again (in v.7.0.22), though not quite to the same extent.
I've reported it to CP, who have been able to reproduce it, so hopefully it will be dealt with in a future update.

Autotext - titles of custom items
I've just come across a quirk relating to the titles of my custom Autotext items. I have about 25 of these, until now all in one folder. Among my items were the following, and these and other similar groups seem to be where the problem lies: 1901 Census 1901 Census (SCT) 1901 Census (IRL) Marriage M...

Re: Question about scope of records handled by A.S.
[The GRO Index is a good example. There may be several Frederick William Wells born in a specific quarter of a certain year, so one also needs the mother's maiden surname to know which one is the actual target.] I don't know if you deliberately fictionalised the entry in order to post it here, but ...

Re: Query to find family branch members
You need to thank Mike as well - he came up with the initial idea, I just refined it. Thanks to Mike too, and everyone else who contributed ideas and tried them out. I ran out of steam quite early on this, but it all goes to show that with a bit of ingenuity, FH seems to be able to come up with alm...

Re: Query to find family branch members
Thanks for this, John - I think I'm going to use it instead of the All Relatives query that I mentioned near the start of this thread, but I didn't have the patience (and probably not the skill either) to work it out for myself.

Re: Query to find family branch members
I ran the All Relatives query and my proposed grandparent branch query on the Family Historian Sample Project using Michael Pleasance MUNRO as the root grandparent. All Relatives returned a Result Set of 52 people which as Lorna says includes dozens of descendants. It also includes the wife of the ...

Re: Query to find family branch members
Or you could just use the inbuilt All Relatives query for each grandparent in turn.
The slight drawback to this is that each grandparent appears in their spouse's list as well as their own, but if you can live with that you might find it simpler.

Re: Citation Assessments
Thank you for all your thoughts. I'm doing family history mainly for myself, with no plans to publish, and for the most part I don't feel any need for these assessments. If a source's title indicates that it's a transcript, what do I gain by ticking a box against every citation to show that it's Der...

Citation Assessments
In a previous program (I think) I went through a phase of adding Primary Information as an assessment to many of my citations. Now I consider most of these to be inappropriate, and I'm thinking of simply removing them. I know how to find them and delete them (though deleting thousands of items with ...

Re: Tips and Tricks for Rich Text Editing
Maybe just sleeping? I'll start it with the feature from the discussion that kicked this off: Resizing table columns including use of the shift key to resize one column only without resizing the adjacent column. Also in connection with tables, can I add How to edit raw rich text, as described in 208...

Re: Show Named List membership in Property Box?
What I was suggesting was to Append the family ID of everyone in that branch, irrespective of them having a current ID or not If the family Name is Smith, append Smith to the current ID of all those in the Smith Branch. If their current ID is blank, because they are not one of you direct ancestors,...

Re: Show Named List membership in Property Box?
Mike - I think you've misunderstood my Custom ID scheme, or else I didn't explain it very well. And in fact I'm perfectly happy with the scheme as it is - the question is about how to display it. Currently the only individuals with Custom IDs are my direct ancestors - about 230 in total. My grandpar...

Re: Show Named List membership in Property Box?
Arthur, A simple way to achive what you want, is to give everyone a custom ID, to indicate which branch they belong to.... Thanks - I already use Custom IDs and include them in the main tab caption, but my way of doing this doesn't cover everyone. My Custom IDs are essentially Ahnentafel numbers st...

Re: Show Named List membership in Property Box?
Thank you, Sarah - that explains it perfectly. I probably will now add in this extra step of setting flags for some of my named lists, so that I can display them somewhere in the property box and easily add/remove them when necessary. (Not the Main tab, though - one of the things that started this l...

Show Named List membership in Property Box?
I'm wondering if there's some way of showing in the Property Box whether a person is a member of a particular Named List. I know it's possible to show Flags in the property box, with tick boxes to add or remove them, but can the same thing be done with list membership? I'm toying with the idea of se...

Re: FH version for RM :lower command
Unless you can edit the role to use lower-case (I don't use witness roles, so this is beyond my experience) Jane's answer to the opposite of this question helped me a few months ago: To uppercase the first character you can use: =Text(ToUpper(LeftText(Relationship(FileRoot(),,TEXT,1),1,"")...

Re: Add religion to baptism fact
For me, it's definitely a feature of the event, not the participants. I'd agree (for marriages at least) - but is this supported by the underlying data structure? For example, if you wanted to run a query to find Religious Affiliations, would it be a fact query or a person query? And if it's findin...

Re: Add religion to baptism fact
Yes, but remember that the religion/denomination in which someone marries isn't necessarily one to which they're actually affiliated. Which is perhaps an argument for recording it against the marriage fact and not the person. Indeed - for a marriage in particular I thought of suggesting that the af...

Re: Add religion to baptism fact
If you go to the All Tab for that person's property window, and right-click the baptism fact, you will see a surprisingly long list of items that can be added to the baptism event. One of them is " Religious Affiliation ". This will then be visible from the All Tab, of course, but can be ...

Re: Add religion to baptism fact
You can either add a labelled text field in the note and include that in your sentence template.... Unfortunately, no, other than by adding a note comment, which is rarely the ideal solution. If I needed to, I wouldn't have a problem putting it in the Note field as ordinary (non-labelled) text. You...
