I agree. These proposals seem to strike the right balance.

Re: Problem writing to Where within Source Using Flexible CSV Importer Plugin
Thanks for the explanation. The separation of settings and import file data is much clearer. I have a heavy workload this week but I'll get back to you in a day or so with feedback on the plugin Help. It takes me a while to get my ideas into a coherent form these days.

Re: Problem writing to Where within Source Using Flexible CSV Importer Plugin
Thank you. I have got data written to Where within Source now. I am still confused about the purpose of Selecting an existing source. I had wrongly assumed that this was to allow a global source/ citation to be applied. This is clearly not the case. I found the Help information vague about this opti...

Problem writing to Where within Source Using Flexible CSV Importer Plugin
I am using this plugn to import BMD information for a One name study. Everything is working perfectly except I cannot get the plugin to write a text string to where within source in the source citation. I have tried various permutations of column header in the CSV file and have tried selecting the c...

Re: Map Language
It only takes two clicks if you first click on the cog icon at the top right of the map then click on either View in Google Maps or View in Bing Maps. This will open the relevant map in your web browser at roughly the same zoom level which makes it easy to pick up the co-ordinates you need.

Re: Which Source Template to Use.
I have a similar problem with poor law records. The Essentials collection does not really cater for the procedural type records like military records, court records and poor law records that are created for the administration of national and local organisations. You have the option to create a custo...

Source Templates for Poor Law Sources
I have been experimenting with the Source Template features in V7 comparing them to my existing generic sources. Due to the generally impoverished nature of my ancestors I have a fair amount of "Poor Law" sources such as workhouse admissions, bastardy and settlement examinations and out re...

Re: Build description.
I agree that "propor" for proportionate is most likely. I have been researching with the files of Licences for Parole for Female Convicts. Most prisons used a similar form and slight, proportionate or stout were by far the most common build descriptions I have seen.

Free access to The National Archive digital collection

Furthur information can be found here. https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/about/news/digital-downloads/ . Available documents include First and Second World War records, mili...

Re: Adams Family
Four of my grandmother' cousins were given in to Barnardos in the late 1880's and I stuggled to find them after the 1891 census when they were either in foster homes or in a Barnardos childrens home. I eventually discovered that Barnardo's sold them to the Canadian Government and they were shipped t...

Goodness, the Show Project Statistics plugin should come with a health warning! The inconsistencies report will keep me busy until Easter at least. Thanks for pointing it out.

Re: Census records with no address
I thought that this might be the answer but being new to Family Historian I was worried that I might have missed something obvious. I shall use this method for all census data not just those without addresses. Thank you for pointing me to the List All Citations for a Selected Source plugin. That is ...

Census records with no address
For some time I have been planning to do a one location study of the village where my Grandmother was born. At the moment I am looking at the available data souces and trying out different ways of entering the family data into a practice project. I'm using Ancestral Sources to enter data from the 18...

Re: V6 - Further TMG direct import failures
I'm surprised that you have had this problem. Whilst evaluating Family Historian I tested both direct import and GEDCOM import from TMG versions 8 and 9. All my occupation data transfered correctly from the memo in TMG into the fact in Family Historian. As far as I can tell so far I haven't lost any...
