Re: Full ages on certs
Because I want this to be picked up by the Auto Text, I just put in 100 as the age in these cases. I then change the value in the Auto Text to "Full". By way of explanation, I use different colours for the text "Age:" and its value so it is quicker changing the word "Full&qu...

Re: Unlinked Sources - delete?
But why - what's the point of removing a Citation but leaving a Source 'shell' behind. Can it be reused in some way? Why not allow me to delete the whole Source, including Citation? Yes, a Source record can be referenced from multiple facts - e.g. at its simplest level, a Census Source record would...

It looks to me like you have set the Marriage Fact Definition / Roles / Advanced / Summary Template for Witness "on" and set the text to Marriage. My Marriage Witness is shown as follows:

Re: Behaviour of "Fit" button in Census form
As the Help states, "....use the Fit button to automatically reduce the main census grid to the narrowest column widths required. This will automatically also reduce the width of the auto-text version of the table too....". Once you make changes within the Auto-text then the Fit button eff...

Re: Auto-Text Template (Rich Text) - Marriages issue
Thanks Nick - at least I'm not missing something!. I tend to add Marriages in batches so it's a fairly easy process to just step through newly created Source records in FH and correct this, but I'll also have a look at the hyperlinks and how they flow through to Gedsite.

Auto-Text Template (Rich Text) - Marriages issue
Nick I've had this problem for a while now (sorry, can't remember when it first occurred) but have only just had the time to sit down and try to determine what is wrong. In essence, the autotext for Marriage Witnesses (and other Associated Individuals) is not being shown with colour text for the tit...

Re: Witnesses and associations
Personally, I would investigate now rather than decide further down the track what approach you want to to use and then have to reinput data. When I moved from TMG to FH some years ago, I spent over three months "playing" with FH doing multiple transfers of data from TMG to FH, tweaking da...

Re: Unable to re-order facts
I am not convinced that everything is working as it should, and using a sort date, just to keep FH happy is a workaround, shouldn’t be necessary and doesn’t address the underlying problem. . With respect, using the Sort Date is not something to keep FH happy - it meets a basic requirement of being ...

Re: Unable to re-order facts
Jbtapscot, If they all have same date, how does sorting by date work? Because FH uses the Sort Date firstly and if there is no Sort Date on a Fact then it uses the Date on the Fact - by default the two have the same value unless you specifically input a Sort Date! (I'm sure coding-wise it doesn't w...

Re: Unable to re-order facts
Can't say I've noticed that problem but I tend to use the Sort Date on one or more Facts where the Fact Dates are the same and I want them in a specific order.

It's not answering your problem I'm afraid, but I have had very similar issues on the FMP Search site for several months! Like you, I change a name or a date or a place and some of the change(s) get ignored - like Ancestry, it seems to have a mind of its own!!

Re: 1939 Register minor issue
I have a number of instances where the Marital Status (not Relationship!) is shown as "M" but the people recorded were not married to each other. In most cases it was sisters who had moved back to the family home while their husbands were away (or to a perceived safer location), and were n...

Re: Monumental Inscriptions - thoughts?
Just as a follow up Nick on my 'Memorial' fact - this came about because I found that there are occasions when a person is mentioned on a Gravestone but there is no 'proof' that the person is actually buried in that cemetery, or I actually know that the person is buried elsewhere (a prime example he...

Re: Monumental Inscriptions - thoughts?
I too have gone with the generic 'Monumental Inscription' as this gives greater flexibility in my opinion. I don't bother with a date on the Source record as the actual gravestone (or whatever) could have been added to over the years. I normally include a transcript of what is on the memorial in the...

Re: Question about scope of records handled by A.S.
I'm sure Nick will respond in due course, but for info, I use AS for all BMDB entries regardless of source as it ensures a level of consistency in my entries. I use multiple Autotext templates and, in need, use the "Generic .. Data Only" one if nothing else fits, and will manually modify t...

Re: Question about "Essentials" template set
I don't use any of the templates as I prefer to follow my own existing consistent approach, but in terms of the Access Date I do think it has a quite important place for certain sources. The 1939 UK Register is one particular area where transcripts / images do change over time (as FMP, etc., receive...

Not sure if it will help in your case, but I found the plugin "Convert Text from Source to Rich Text" pretty nifty for converting plain text for non-census sources.

Re: Change the actions of the go-back / history list
I don't use the Back / Forward functionality very often but on those occasions that I do, I would expect it to operate as Mike T has specified - removal of an item should not result in the whole 'history' list disappearing.

Re: 1939 Register
I would suggest it is a safety feature - as far as I recall, it has been there since I first started using AS some years ago!. Before AS updates the FH Gedcom, it takes a copy so that if there are any problems with the update there is a fallback solution. Personally, I have it set to only generate 4...

Re: 1939 Register
If you look at Tools\Options\General Settings there are three Folder settings including one for Backups. Hover over the Backups detail and a popup explains that a copy of the Gedcom is made before AS processes any entries in to FH. The Help for that page also states: "Backup Folder: When change...

Re: 1921 Census Template
Yes, as Nick says, pretty easy to add the extra text on the template. I have modified the 1939 Register template to record the number of 'closed records' at the date I found the schedule as this number can change over time, using:
{CENSUSGRID}
Closed records for this Address (as at {SYSTEM.DATE}):
{CENSUSGRID}

I'm sure Nick will come back with other suggestions in due course, but initially I would check using file Explorer if the file is actually present.
