Export Gedcom Plugin issue
I am using the Family Historian Plugin "Export Gedcom" to create a file for Gedsite. I thought the setup shown below would create separate exhibits in the GEDCOM file for places where I have a link to a face in an Exhibit. Screenshot (153).png What the gedcom file seems to include is the s...

Re: Export Gedcom error
Thanks Mike, Not sure what happened to the screenshot. I had to try several times as the original screen shot was too big but it accepted it in the end. Anyway, it doesn't matter as your revised plugin caught the error. It was a single .jpg file that was corrupt. When I went to view the image in FH ...

Re: Export Gedcom error
Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. Answer to your questions:- At that point, the plugin is copying an image file that needs no part-frame cropping or is a non-image file such as audio, video, word-processor, PDF, etc. Do you have any non-image Media files like that? I have about 2000 media files, many a...

Hi, I am trying to export to Gedcom Pro and I am getting the following error:- [string "C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Pl..."]:550: COM exception:(d:\my\lua\luacom-master\src\library\tluacom.cpp,386):Access to the cloud file is denied. stack traceback: [C]: in method 'CopyFile'...

Dialogue box stopping update
hi, I am going through my whole FH database updating the old imported TMG data using AS. On occasions I inadvertently leave a dialogue box open in FH, complete the data entry AS but then when I go to FH it gives an error with a message that says, "load the file manually". As expected, the ...

Re: Witnesses on Baptisms
Thanks Nick, that worked..... Thanks a lot. Another point whilst I am on. When you enter a baptism and do "Auto text", underneath "When Baptized" it says the date and No, which I presume is the Number of the entry in the register. I can't get the "No" field to populate....

Re: Witnesses on Baptisms
Hi Nick, The simple answer is yes. FH gives the ability to add a witness as a parent to a baptism. When you have done this the event appears in both the timeline and summary reports. At the moment I add them manually after creating the baptism in AS. Of course, the other option is to ask Calico Pie ...

Witnesses on Baptisms
When adding a baptism in AS is there any way to create a witness role for the parents? The baptism of a person's child doesn't appear in their summary report unless they are a witness. Similarly, in a person's timeline, if there is a birth event the baptism event doesn't appear, (this is a setting i...

AS - Problem with deleting data from an automatically populated field.
Nick, I have re-posted this here just for completeness after posting it in the wrong place. There is no need to answer, I have posted your reply below. I have just entered a marriage into AS, for a marriage that was already there, (I want to be consistent with my sources). It automatically populated...

Creating a report of Research Notes using a query
I like the new Research notes functionality in FH7 and I am trying to sort out how best to use them. One of the things I would like to do is produce a report for the same repository. At the moment I have put a hyperlink in the research task stating, for example, Ancestry.com is the repository that I...

Re: Media Records and Local Media Objects
Thanks for the reply Mike.
As it turns out I have never used Note records and really didn't understand the difference between the options.
This is as opposed to Media where I only have Media Records and no Local Media Objects.
At least I'm a little clearer now on the FH functionality.

Media Records and Local Media Objects
Firstly thanks to those you helped me sort out my Gedstar Export. During those posts there was a lot of mention of Media Records and Local Media Objects. I can't find anything in FH help that explains these two types of media, what the difference is between them, and how you identify them in FH. I s...

Re: Exporting Source Media to GedStar Pro
Thanks Jane, I think you have solved my problem. Its my lack of knowledge about how FH works that has caused the problem. I had exported a single person and their facts/sources etc for this test and created a gedcom file which I then clicked on and it opened in FH. What I hadn't realised was this wa...

Re: Exporting Source Media to GedStar Pro
Hi Mike, Thanks for your reply. With regard to your comment "Your understanding of Media image GEDCOM structures appears somewhat mistaken. These days FH never uses Embedded images...." I mistakenly thought that BLOB's in Gedcom files were embedded images and all of the exports I have done...

Exporting Source Media to GedStar Pro
I have recently started using Ancestral Sources to enter some data into FH and I thought I would check how the data looks in Gedstar Pro, the app I use on my mobile devices. It turns out that I can't get the exhibits attached to sources to show up in Gedstar. My current Gedstar database has about 12...

I have a family in my Tree, The Joseph BENCH family, where we have always assumed that Joseph was the father of the first born child. Installing version 6 on a laptop
Hi, I got a free upgrade from version 5 to v6 because I purchased FH just before the release of V6. I have a link that allowed the upgrade from v5 to v6 but it was only valid for 30 days. I'm going on holidays I decided to take my laptop with me just in case I had a few minutes to spare to carry on ...
